Instructions for MJ-57 Module Jig

Introduction
This bulletin is a usage instruction for Module jig MJ-57. MJ-57 is delivered without any RF cables. If RF cable is needed
for testing the end user needs to order and install the cable to the jig. The jig has place for 2 RF cables, one for CDMA RF
and the other for GPS. Same cable type can be used for both connectors.

The user has two options for the RF cables. Either install the cable into the jig or use cable as separate piece. Both
options are illustrated in this TB.

Figure 2 illustrates the jig with the correct CA-56RS RF cable. This cable is 10cm long and it is designed to be used with
MJ-57. The following steps illustrate how to install this RF cable into the jig.

How to use CA-57RS Cable and CA-25RS Cable with MJ-57

The recommended cable for MJ-57 is CA-56RS that is designed for MJ-57. However, also CA-57RS and CA-
25RS cables can be used with MJ-57. Both CA-57RS and CA-25RS cables lock into the RF connector and
therefore the jig support is not must. Following pictures illustrate how to use these optional cables with MJ-57.

Insert the CA-57RS into MJ-57 jig as shown in Figure 9. Note that you don’t need to open all the metal holders; you just
need to remove one holder completely. You should insert the PWB into the jig first and then insert the RF cable. The
cable locks into the connector on PWB.

Installed RF cable shown in Figure 10. Notice that the RF connector in CA-57RS is longer and you cannot close the metal
holder. CA-57RS and CA-25RS cables should be inserted and removed only when the PWB is in the jig.
