Religious Education: We will meet for a Family Session on Sunday, September 8th, 9:45-11:15 AM in the Parish Hall, and parents are required to attend with their child. If you have not yet registered your children, or if you have any questions, contact Diane Black at dianecblack@bellsouth.net, or 477-6676. Classroom sessions begin September 15th. Why Catholic? Believe and Learn: Learn the truths of our Catholic faith and deepen your understanding of why we do what we do as Catholics. Our parish is participating in Why Catholic?, a ministry of RENEW International that is based on Sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Why Catholic? will give you a new awareness and understanding of Gods love and show you how to live as a disciple of Christ. Small groups will begin meeting weekly for six sessions beginning the week of October 6th. Contact Deacon Carl, carlfahringer@bellsouth.net, for information regarding the Why Catholic? program or other adult faith programs. When asked to join, be open to Gods invitation. RCIA Inquiry: Contact Marilena Wertz at 477-8534 or mlwertz@wertz.us if you, or someone you know, have an interest in joining the Catholic Church. Please pray for those who are inquiring, as well as the RCIA team members. The 40th annual Rosary Celebration will be held this Sunday, September 8th, at 3:00 PM, at Nelson County High School. Fr. Anthony Stephens of the Fathers of Mercy will be the guest speaker. Contact Deacon Carl with questions. The Knights of Columbus invite you to their all-you-can-eat Chicken Dinner next Sunday, Sept. 15 from 12:30 2 PM in the Parish Hall. They feature broasted chicken and sides for a price of $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 4-12, and children 3 and younger eat for free. Proceeds help fund their charitable work and your support is appreciated. St. Francis Xaviers Coping with Grief ministry, a support group for persons grieving the death of a spouse or a close loved one, will meet Tuesday, Sept. 10th, 2013 from 6:30-7:30 PM in the RE building, TGIF room. All are welcome. Immigration Reform: Congress returns to work this week, and the push will be on to pass comprehensive immigration reform. Please write to your elected officials to let them know of your support for immigration reform. Go to Justice for Immigrants (www.justiceforimmigrants.org) and send a postcard or become a Faithful Citizen Advocate through the Catholic Conference of Kentucky. Faithful citizens receive regular email alerts about a variety of issues and are invited to communicate with elected officials through user-friendly formats. Go to www.ccky.org and follow the link in the Welcome message. Please also visit the www.justiceforimmigrants.org web site to see some new resources about the issue of immigration, including a video from Bishop William Medley of the Diocese of Owensboro. Visit and like Catholic Conference of Kentuckys Who is Your Neighbor Facebook page to keep informed. AA will meet at 7:30 PM each Tuesday in the Parish Hall. An open discussion format is used. Eternal Rest: Please remember in your prayers the families of Mrs. Donna Forg and of Mr. George Koppel, Jr. Mrs. Forg passed away September 1st and Deacon Carl Fahringer presided at her service, held at Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home, on Wednesday, September 4th. Mr. Koppel, father of parishioners Ron Koppel, Marilena Wertz, George Koppel and Angela Browning, passed away on Tuesday, September 3rd, and was buried from St. Pauls Catholic Church on Friday. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. The first of the monthly celebrations of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be next weekend, September 14/15th (second weekend), after Mass; and the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be September 21st (third Saturday) from 2:303:00 PM. Both sacraments are also available, by appointment, with Fr. Dale.
