Los pabellones de exposicin constituyen un rara avis tipolgico en cuanto ofrecen soluciones arquitectnicas diversas, llenas de referencias formales que acaban conviertindolos en consulados sentimentales de los pases que lo construyen. En el caso que nos ocupa -un introvertido pabelln de planta central organizado a modo de claustro- ha sufrido, como en otros casos, reconversiones posteriores que han acabado por diluir la amplitud de sus espacios originarios. Nuestra propuesta plantea la limpieza de dichos espacios con el objetivo de recuperar la versatilidad de la construccin primitiva, as como de la necesaria reforma de 1983. La intervencin supone adems el redescubrimiento y la apertura del edificio hacia el jardn, espacio que se muestra ntimo y dialogante frente a la pesada cerradez historicista del edificio. Exhibition pavilions turn out to be a typological rara avis so they may include a great diversity of architectural solutions, full of both historical and formal references that end up turning them into sentimental embassies of the countries that once took part in the event. Thats the situation of this introverted small central-plan pavilion which has suffered from numerous reorganizations, many of them not respectful enough with its original spaces. Our project aims to clean these original spaces and recover its primitive versatility. The intervention means also both the rediscovery and the building openness to the garden, a space that, unlike the building heaviness, turns out to be quiet and receptive.

El proyecto parte de dos premisas claras: Por un lado la de evitar al mximo la desfragmentacin incluyendo bajo un nico slido capaz todas las necesidades del programa, permitiendo la mayor superficie de jardn posible; Por otro lado, la consecucin de una pieza cuya claridad en cuanto a ritmos y circulaciones permita una lectura unitaria del mismo. Su implantacin en el solar siguiendo una retcula imaginaria establece referencias con las ciudades-campamento romanas e introduce un plano cartesiano en un territorio an por domesticar, al mismo tiempo que procura la mxima sencillez y estandarizacin en cuanto a luces y modulacin de elementos. En su contacto con el viario existente el edificio presenta una fachada ptrea de ritmos ordenados, mientras que al jardn la fachada se vuelve colorida y traslcida. The project was conceived with two clear intentions: First, the strategies aimed at providing the most of green spaces on the site by concentrating the whole room requirements schedule in a single building; Secondly, the design tries to achieve clarity and functionality in both its composition and interior rhythms. The building is placed on a triangular piece of land outside the city in the northern limit of Mrida, and its orthogonal distribution remind us of the same strategies the romans thought up to raise their military cities and domesticate unknown territories. The facades -made of concrete- are sober and clean in its contact with the existing streets, while they turn out to be translucent and colorful to reflect the lively presence of the garden.

La morfologa urbana del sector est marcada por su carcter de lmite, en la que la convivencia entre campos de cultivo y edificaciones rurales no consolidadas y de pobre factura, junto con nuevos crecimientos residenciales de baja densidad, constituyen un paisaje complejo y poco definido, caracterstico de tejidos urbanos en proceso de conformacin. Su implantacin constituye un referente para los nuevos crecimientos urbanos y el esquema elegido -a modo de claustro abierto al paisajefacilita la gobernanza y potencia la imagen institucional del edificio. En su ejecucin se emplean materiales y sistemas prefabricados, de fcil y rpida construccin, an garantizando la calidad y funcionalidad de este tipo de construcciones. The site where the new complex is placed is characterized by its condition of urban limit. Crop fields, rural buildings and low-density urban expansions make up a complex, undefined landscape, typical of not well structured urban fabrics. The projects goal consist of becoming a new reference for new urban expansions, and its floor plan -a modern cloister opened to the countryside- facilitates governance while strengthens the image of the building as a public and participative place. Prefabricated systems as well as materials will be used during the construction process in order to guaranteeing both the quality and functionality of this type of buildings.

El solar, de forma rectangular y topografia practicamente llana, se situa al suroeste del casco urbano de Guillena, dominando desde su posicion los terrenos de olivar proximos y sus casas de labranza. Es evidente la vocacion del proyecto por proyectarse sobre la trama urbana, por crear ciudad: El nuevo edificio se alinea a norte buscando la mejor orientacion solar y a su vez subrayando la continuidad en el tejido urbano existente, conformando asi una nueva calle con las traseras de las viviendas de la Avenida de Extremadura. Todo el edificio del colegio se organiza a su vez a lo largo de una calle interior, un autentico pasaje que pretende agilizar su organizacion interna y su gobernabilidad. La pieza se resuelve mediante ladrillo revistiendo elementos estructurales y fachada ventilada de u-glass especialmente visible en su alzado norte. The site -flat, rectangular shaped- is located south-west of the town centre, overlooking from its place an endless sea of olive groves and arable lands sprinkled with modest farming houses and other rural constructions. The project aims to solve some complex urban problems by creating a piece of architecture which - in spite of its small size- is able enough to fit comfortably into the historic urban fabric. The new building is placed in the north side of the plot, looking for the best sun exposure conditions as well as creating a passage between this one and the existing houses at Extremadura Av. Externally, brick and u-glass cavity-wall facades are used to reinforce the institutional image of the building.

El proyecto de Rehabilitacin del Fuerte de San Luis -barbacana construida durante la ocupacin francesa en Espaa- y el antiguo poblado salinero de El Consulado se conceba dentro de una intervencin ms amplia, dirigida a la puesta en valor de las antiguas salinas de la Isla de Trocadero y su entorno, hoy protegido mediante la figura de Paraje Natural y accesible nicamente a travs de pequeas embarcaciones. La intervencin acta con sensibilidad, desvelando las trazas del antiguo fuerte y recuperando la arquitectura sencilla de la pequea factora, posibilitando un recorrido a travs del paisaje horizontal de la marisma y desvelando viejos canales, acequias, aljibes y miradores en un territorio fuertemente manipulado.. The Restoration Project for San Luis Fort - a small barbican built during the French occupation in the 19th century- and El Consulado village is conceived just as a part of an ambitious plan that aims to revalue the ancient salt mines as well as its formidable surrondings -one of the largest Nature Reserves in the province nowadays- only accessible by small boats. The intervention reveals sensitively the old fort traces and recovers the modest architecture of the small factory, all these linked by a new path across the marshes, through which the visitor discovers old channels, irrigation ditches, wells, and other human signs from the past as he paces along.

Almadn es un pequeo pueblo de tan slo 1.500 habitantes situado en la Sierra Norte de Sevilla, a 70 km de la capital. En las inmediaciones de su casco urbano y entre ste y el cercano monte Calvario se propone la creacin de un nuevo parque urbano y un equipamiento multiusos complementario. En el pabelln se emplean 15 contenedores de transporte martimo reutilizados, apilados como si de un juego de construccin infantil se tratase. Dicho sistema permite limitar los gastos de construccin y la huella de CO2 durante su ejecucin. En su interior las aulas y talleres de distribuyen en dos niveles a lo largo de un corredor de generosas dimensiones abierto visualmente a la Sierra y al parque. Una piel solar transventilada de madera viste y desviste el edificio en verano e invierno creando un efecto de acondicionamiento natural pasivo. Almadn is a small town with only 1.500 inhabitans in the Sierra Norte of the Seville province, 70 km from the capital city. In the vicinity of the town centre and very close to the mount Calvario, the authorities proposed not only a new green area, but also a public facility whose aim consisted of housing some of the activities which until then took place in the old school building. 15 shipping containers are reused - and piled up as if it were a childs gamefor the building structural system, which aims to obtain better results both on building costs and carbon footprint. The two stories building follows a linear floorplan, with classrooms and workshops located on the south facade and visually opened to the park and the mountains. A wooden transventilated facade regulates the internal temperature, working as a natural conditioning system.

El encargo surge a partir de la bsqueda de una nueva sede cercana al ro Guadalquivir junto a las rplicas de navos histricos que la propia fundacin gestiona en el puerto de la ciudad. El proyecto deba hacer frente a unos condicionantes urbansticos estrictos, que requeran de una intervencin fcilmente desmontable y limitada volumtricamente. Haciendo de la necesidad virtud recurrimos a un edificio realizado mediante contenedores de transporte martimo organizados en una volumetra compleja y cambiante: parte de los mdulos que lo integran pueden movilizarse en caso de exposiciones itinerantes, implicando al propio edificio en el carcter expedicionario de la fundacin. Our job consisted of designing the new offices for the foundation, near the Guadalquivir river in the former city harbour and quite close to the replicas of the ancient boats once used during the discovery of America. The project had to face some complex requirements, which pointed to a building that could be easily dismantled and volumetrically limited. By making a virtue of necessity we designed a building made of shipping containers, whose units pile up into a constantly changing shape: part of them can be removed to take part in traveling exhibitions. Therefore, the building, also its users and visitors, are involved in the companys passion for expeditions.
