Holy Fathers Prayer Intentions for September 2013

General Intention: Value of Silence. That people today, often overwhelmed by noise, may rediscover the value of silence and listen to the voice of God and their brothers and sisters. Missionary Intention: Persecuted Christians. That Christians suffering persecution in many parts of the world may by their witness be prophets of Christ's

Carpeting Replacement
The carpeting on the main floor of St. Marys church has served the parish well for 30 years, but is overdue for replacement. In preparation for replacement, a number of parishioners have been asked to assist in choosing new carpeting.
Arts Furniture has given us an estimate of $9100 to replace all carpeting on the main floor, including the sanctuary and entrance. Any contributions to defray the expense of replacement will be greatly appreciated! UPDATE: The carpeting has arrived at Arts! Unfortunately, it may be some time before it can be installed. Its hoped that the work will be done by the First Sunday of Advent, December 1, 2013.

Pro-Life Messages
Some who defend abortion claim that one is "truly human" only when able to reason, to choose, and to be creative. Yet a book about how to perform abortions contains this quote: "Surely embryos and fetuses do none of these things. In fact, neither do newborns, and there's the rub. Presumably it would be equally as acceptable to destroy newborns as fetuses, since both are in the same prehuman boat" (Second Trimester Abortion: Perspectives After a Decade of Experience, Berger et al., eds., p. 215). Think about it.

Retrouvaille is coming to Kalispell

Thinking about Separation or Divorce? Is your marriage or that of a relative or friend heading for divorce? Do you know how to save that marriage? Or do you feel helpless? Retrouvaille (pronounced retrovi with a long i) is designed to help troubled marriages regain their health. It helps spouses uncover or re-awaken the love, trust and commitment that originally brought them together. The program is highly successful in saving hurting marriages, even bringing reconciliation to couples who have already separated or divorced. If your marriage suffers from disillusionment or misery please contact Retrouvaille. Couples from anywhere in Montana and Canada are welcomed to attend the Kalispell weekend October 18-20, 2013. For confidential information or to register call 800-470-2230 or 406-761-4830 or email montana@retrouvaille.org.
Retrouvaille is NOT just for couples whose marriage is on the verge of divorce or considered irrevocably broken. Perhaps you would like to rekindle the love of those early years or improve your communication. Visit our Montana website for emotionally moving personal testimonials. www.retrouvaillemt.org. You also can visit the International website for additional information http://www.retrouvaille.org/

Stewardship and Development

Stewardship Thought: The central theme in todays Scripture passages is of Gods divine mercy and forgiveness. In the Book of Exodus, Moses prays for God to be merciful to the Israelites, who sinned by worshipping the golden calf. St. Paul, in his First Letter to Timothy, describes Gods mercy in spite of his own persecution of Christians. This theme culminates in St. Lukes Gospel, where Jesus tells the Pharisees the parable of the Prodigal Son and the rejoicing that occurs when he returns to his father. Gods abundant mercy and forgiveness are available to all who seek it. As humble stewards, we acknowledge our weaknesses and failings and seek the Lords mercy and forgiveness for our sins. Through Gods example of forgiveness, we also learn to forgive those who trespass against us. Development Thought: A very simple, yet generous, way to share your gift of treasure with our parish or diocese (without writing a check at all) is to name our church the owner and/or beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy you have which your beneficiaries no longer need. In addition, a gift of a paid-up policy would likely qualify you for the 40% Montana Endowment Tax Credit. To learn more, please contact the Office of Stewardship and Development at 800-332-9998, ext. 120. Thank you!

Mass Intentions
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention. Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who
