The programs they run can help to improve humans' everyday lives. They have 4 main functions in a computer. The functions on a computer are input, output, processing, and storage. Multiuser computers Multi-user is a term that defines an operating system or application software that allows access by multiple users of a computer. Time-sharing systems are multi-user systems. Some multi-user operating systems such as Windows versions from the Windows NT family support simultaneous access by multiple users. You can use a variety of users on multiuser computers. Evolution of Computers The earliest electronic computers were not personal in any way. They were enormous and hugely expensive, and they required a team of engineers to keep them running. Ubiquitous Computing Ubiquitous computing is an advanced computing concept where computing is made to appear everywhere and anywhere. A user interacts with the computer, which can exist in many different forms - laptop, tablets, terminals, phones, etc. The underlying technologies to support ubiquitous computing include Internet, advanced middleware, and operating system.
