Haynes Public Charter School was founded in 2004 and has an award-winning program based on effective practices for advancing student achievement. E.L. Haynes is among the top-performing charter schools in Washington D.C., and is recognized locally and nationally as a model and for our exceptional student achievement gains. E.L. Haynes currently serves over 900 students in grades PreK-10 and continues to grow until it serves PreK-12th grade. Our Mission Every E.L. Haynes student of every race, socioeconomic status, ability level, and home language will reach high levels of academic achievement and be prepared to succeed at the college of his or her choice. Every E.L. Haynes student will be adept at mathematical reasoning, will use scientific methods effectively to frame and solve problems, and will develop the lifelong skills needed to be successful individuals, active community members, and responsible citizens. Position Responsibilities Implement a truancy prevention program at the high school and middle school level, to address the academic and social needs of truant and pre-truant students. Provide assessment, case management, individual and/or group evidence-based interventions to identified truant or pre-truant students and families with the goal of improving attendance, engagement, and academic achievement. Collaborate with families by sharing relevant resources, provide referrals, and strengthen homeschool communication in order to promote and support students academic and social success. Compile outreach intervention documentation and facilitates referrals for students who meet the criteria for Child and Family Services and/or DC Court Social Services/Metropolitan Police Department. Conduct home and community agency visits as necessary in order to support students identified as at-risk for truancy. Create attendance action plans in collaboration with the student, family, and school in order to track the effectiveness of interventions and improvement in attendance rate. Provide consultation to faculty, staff, administrators and others regarding the Check and Connect Program and other outreach efforts aimed to improve school attendance. Participate in team meetings between school coordinated service teams and Individualized Education Plans when appropriate.

Maintain accurate data and records that are relevant to planning, implementation, and evaluation of social work services. Adhere to the ethics and values of the Social Work and or School Counseling profession and practice in accordance with NASW Code of Ethics, Professional School Counseling Standards and IDEA regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Unapologetic belief in the ability of all students to succeed in their path to college and career, with the right supports in place. Inner ability, stamina and self-care strategies necessary to work with a high needs population Possession of a valid District of Columbia Social Work or Professional School Counselor license. One year of experience working in an urban educational setting, with a concentration in middle and/or high school youth. Strong organizational and communication skills Spanish speakers and persons of color are strongly encouraged to apply. Compensation This is a full-time, grant-funded contract (1099) position for the 2013-14 school year. Compensation is dependent about qualifications. E.L.
