Elena Riva This candidate is 35, married and is a translator by profession. She has a diploma in translating. Her work experience is in doing translations in a travel agency and she has not much travel abroad. Her spoken English was slow but accurate. Her disposition was serious and correct at times but this was possibly due to the interview situation. She seemed to be well presented at the interview. Alexis Pelios This candidate is 21, single and still a student. He has, however, already had some work experience as a tourist guide and worked at a trade fair. He is currently attending a college course in Tourism and Trade which he became interested in after travelling extensively through Europe and taking a package holiday to the USA. He spoke English fluently but erratically during the interview. He had a pleasant and selfconfident personality but he dressed casually. Recommendation Both candidates appeared to have some of the qualifications and personal qualities for the job. Although Elena Riva was tidily dressed, she did not seem to have the self-assuredness that is needed for this type of work. On the other hand, Alexis Pelios seemed at ease with meeting new people which would be very beneficial at a trade fair. He was also energetic and a confident speaker.
