MongoDB Consulting Overview

10gen can help customers build, run and deploy applications on MongoDB. MongoDB consulting enables organizations to improve developer and end-user experience, reduce time to market, decrease deployment costs and lower business risk. 10gen provides advisory services on all facets of the database deployment lifecycle, including system architecture, schema design, capacity planning, performance tuning, upgrades, migration strategies and other areas.

MongoDB Consulting Services

10gen offers four core services to help customers accelerate their MongoDB projects: Custom Consulting Technical Account Manager (TAM) Health Check Lightning Consult CUSTOM CONSULTING 10gen consultants can assist with all phases of MongoDB implementations, such as installation, configuration, testing, performance tuning, deployment architecture and best practices reviews. 10gen consultants work as a part of our customers' project teams during critical phases of their projects to provide expertise on MongoDB. Engagements range from a few weeks to several months. TECHNICAL ACCOUNT MANAGER (TAM) A named, experienced MongoDB expert from 10gen can provide advisory services to organizations around development and operations on an ongoing basis. The TAM: Delivers ongoing consulting for MongoDB-related development and operations Becomes intimately familiar with the customers application, system and team Ensures that MongoDB and the underlying system are properly configured for production Facilitates issue resolution Is directly reachable via a telephone using a direct line, email and instant messenger (e.g., Skype, gChat) The TAM remains the same over the duration of the contract, and has a fixed schedule and location to ensure optimal communication and request resolution. TAM contracts are offered on a per-year basis; they are based on the number of days of consulting delivered per week.

HEALTH CHECK An experienced MongoDB expert from 10gen can work with IT teams to provide detailed assessments of the overall status of their MongoDB deployments, including: Documenting and evaluating deployment configurations Auditing data models and index setups Assessing data reliability and risk Checking for exceptions and performance anomalies Evaluating backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures Assessing data availability and failover procedures We start with an initial meeting, review deployments offline and schedule follow-up meetings. At the end of the Health Check we provide customers with a report on the state of their deployments and recommendations for improvements. Health checks are best done at the end of the development cycle, and before production launch. LIGHTNING CONSULT For customers that may only need an hour or two of assistance, 10gen offers mini-consultations on MongoDB projects during normal business hours. These may be useful for schema and architecture design, getting help with minor administrative tasks or just asking a few lingering questions.
