HR QUESTIONS
1) Do you prefer to work alone or as a Team member?
When interviewer asks such questions it means they are trying to learn whether you are a team player or you like working independently. Even if you have a strong preference to work alone or with others, the best answer is to say both. If a job is mostly about working alone, there might be some team work involved. Theres no work or job which doesnt need team work at some point of time. The reality is that most jobs require us to work both independently and in teams. Your response to this question should show that you have been successful in both situations. Most employers want someone who can work well in a team and work well alone. Your answers can be: 1) I would like to work in an environment where there is a blend of both. Its great working in teams while sharing and learning ideas with each other, but its also great to sit at my own desk and work hard productively. Therefore I would like to work independently towards a team goal. 2) I believe both are two sides of the same coin. They can never be isolated. A man has to work individually and also as a team player. The value of teamwork is the emergence of new ideas and creative solutions as well as sharing of the work load. So I prefer to work both as an individual and as a team member. 3) During my school days, I was a team member of the Cricket team and the Band Group. Each required a different kind of team play and the learning experience was invaluable. But simultaneously I had to work hard individually for my School exams and other competitive exams where I need to learn and perform on my own. Hence I understand the value of both and therefore I am comfortable working on a team and independently as well. 4) I like working myself. But I love working in a team because one thing is for sure gaining and sharing knowledge through experience. It is always said Two heads are better than one. Working as an individual, I can apply all that I have learned throughout the career. So I believe both have their importance and both are required to be successful in any field.

For example, if my colleague or friends asks me for help, sometimes I end up doing their work instead of my work. Since it affects my work schedule sometimes, I am nowadays learning to say 'NO'. There are people who simply state their strength like I am Young, Dynamic, Intelligent, and smart & so on Such answer is neither right nor wrong but does not help u in any way also. Secondly there are peoples who state their strengths and explain them how he can use his strength for the job and industry. Do not simply state your strength. The interviewer simply wants to check out whether you have come prepared. Your answers also signify how passionate you are for the job and the company. Therefore its a very important question. Your answer should reflect your knowledge about the company and passion for the job. If you state a simple answer and use tags it will definitely show that you have not done sufficient research. You dont have to list everything you know just enough to let them know that you did your homework. Also, take a little time to give the company a compliment such as the last sentence. It is a psychological tool that you should use to your advantage. This type of compliment is directed at the company and the interviewer will be happy to hear this. Your can say: 1) This company is the leader in delivering IT Solutions. Its a global company in 18 different countries, and finally its one of the best companies to work for. 2) I learned that this Company has a great work environment and is an employee oriented. Its a place where strong contributors are rewarded. 9) If you are given an opportunity to work in our organisation, how long will you stick?
1) As long as my services are required for your organization 2) As long as we both feel that I am doing a good job

10) Tell me about yourself?

You should prepare 2 answers - 1 short answer and 1 detailed answer. And you should always tell the short one (2 to 3 minutes). Then if the interviewer asks again, then you can extend that introduction to more details. But ideally, no interviewer wants a long answer. Just start with your name, native place, education details, professional experience (if any), current project (if any), certifications (if any) and awards (if any). I personally think there is no need to explain in detail about your family members (your brothers, sisters...) and what they are doing. You should avoid such irrelevant details unless specifically asked by interviewer. And avoid stupid sentences like - 'I am very honest', 'I am very hardworking', 'I am very intelligent' ... Don't tell hobbies like 'Watching Movies', 'Watching TV'...etc. I think it's not necessary to tell hobbies during Self introduction. If they ask specifically, then be very careful in answering. If you simply tell 'Reading Books', then they will ask 'What book you read recently and explain the story'. You may be in trouble if you are not knowledgeable about that. Another Format: 1. Start from your name 1st 2. From place you belong 3.Your aggregate percentage in your whole career including all graduation,(10th, +2,B.tech/Mca) 4.Then about your family , it should b short like(i belong 2 nuclear Family...) 5.Tell your hobbies. 6. Something about your Mottos in your life (at least 2) 7.Finally end your intro with your long term goal.

MY INTRODUCTION: I am Anil Kumar. My native place is Nellore. My Parents are residing there now. From the very beginning I have been interested in Software Field hence I have acquired academic qualifications to achieve this. I completed my graduation in Computer Science and Engineering with an aggregate of 70% and completed my Intermediate with an aggregate of 92.9% and SSC with an Aggregate of 79%. My hobbies are Browsing, Blogging, listening music and trying out simple origami in free time. I feel my main Strengths are Strives to win even at the edge of failures and ability of self learning, Believe in myself; self-confidence. My Lectures and friends would like to describe me as a very positive person as well as hardworking person. My aim is to become the best I have learnt from my parents to give life my best shot. They have thought me to believe in myself.

11) Are you applying for other jobs?

To be frank, I will join that company if I get that better offer before I 'accept' your offer. After I 'accept' your offer, there is no turning back at least for few years. I am ethical enough to stick with your company. However, I don't think that will happen, as I have been applying to companies very selectively, and I don't think I have currently applied to any better company than yours.

12) MARKS PROBLEM?

Just to elaborate on your problem, there are 3 types of cases regarding less marks. 1) People having less marks throughout the academic career 2) People having less marks initially and then picked up (Lets say 60 % in 10 th, and 75 % in Engineering) 3) People having more marks initially and then drop in performance (Lets say 70 % in 10th, and 50 % in Engineering) From interview point of view, type (3) people will face more problems. They will be questioned why the drop in performance. Type (2) will face less problems out of all because they raised their performance bar as the academic career progressed. I think you belong to Type (1) because you don't have very high marks even in your engineering. You are right that you will face few questions regarding this.

Frame something like below: Initially I used to concentrate more on my extra curricular activities. I won many prizes & organized many events also. I have got good reputation in my college for my organizing capabilities. In the process, I think I neglected my studies a bit due to all these. But now I have realized academics are also equally important along with extracurricular activities. Off the late, I have been doing hard work to increase my academic performance & marks. As you can see, that resulted in some increase of marks in my Engineering when compared to my 12th marks. Mistakes are common in life and as I got matured, I am trying to rectify the mistakes I have done. I am sure I have the capability to perform even better.

13) Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

Some answers are: 1) I see myself as a Senior Software Engineer in your esteemed organization where by with all my enhanced learning and skill, I shall be able to make up a valuable and meaningful contribution to your organization. 2) In five years, I want to be a senior analyst (Senior Software Engineer/Manager/Lead). I want to expertise to directly impact the company in a positive way. 3) Although I really enjoy working as a Software Engineer, I want to eventually become a manager. I want to continue gaining experience, and after learning many different aspects, I see myself in management.

14) What is more important to you: Money or Work?

For me, both are equally important. Everyone needs money for living and almost everyone works for money. I am no exception. However I will be ready to adjust on money factor if I can get the challenging work where I will have the job satisfaction by fulfilling the challenges.

15) What questions should I ask the interviewer?

- Can you please describe the work environment here? Is it flexible? - Can you tell me more about my job responsibilities - assuming that I get selected? - How soon you expect me to join? - Is there anything else you need to know concerning my ability to do this job?

8 - Do you want me to update / refresh any of my skills so that I will be a better match for this job? - What major challenges you are facing right now in this position you are offering me

16) Do you want to study higher?

I already spoke to my relatives & seniors working in IT industry so that I can know the situation from their experience. And everyone told me that further studies are not really necessary to excel in the job. I also feel the same those 2 years of work experience gives more knowledge than 2 years of studies. No matter how many years I study further, it will not give me the practical experience and exposure to various real-time situations I am looking for. So I am not very keen on further studies. That's the reason I did not even attempt GATE exam.

17) Important Point in INTERVIEW:

Before explaining in detail, the simple answer for this question is that when interviewer asks you any question and if you know the answer, always tries to answer as simple as possible and straight to the point. If you don't know the answer, that's fine. Just tell the interviewer that you don't know the answer and you will be willing work on that weak area. You must say - 'I don't know' when you don't know the answer for 5 questions or 10 questions. Another way of saying is that Im not comfortable with that subject sir. The first thing one should remember is that the interviewer never expects that you answer everything. But they expect that whatever you answer is right and they expect that you are a open-minded person who agrees that you don't know something (instead of bluffing them with some answers manufactured by you). Points to remember:- Always answer politely. Don't try to be aggressive or arrogant. - If you know the answer, be straight to the point. Explain in detail only if he asks you further questions on that. - When you don't know the answer, tell that - 'Sorry, I don't know the answer for this question. I will try to improve this area by working more...' Based on the situation, you should apply some tactics when you are not knowing answers in a subject and the interviewer keeps on asking questions in that subject :- Try telling something like - 'Sorry but I am not very comfortable in this subject. Do you mind asking questions in some other subject?' - If the situation goes to extreme and if you know the interviewer is losing interest in you, try to challenge the interviewer by trying something innovative.
