TEACHERS ACTIVITY - T. checks attendance Whos absent today? T asks Ss to prepare their materials for the lesson and tries to create a warm atmosphere. - T tells Ss they will learn about the steps they should follow in order to manage to write an informal letter (a letter giving advice) and that they will concentrate on some structures specific to these kinds of letters. 1.T gives Ss a self-assessment worksheet and asks them to write everything they know about informal letters. 2. T gives Ss a worksheet and asks them to do the first exercise. In this case they have to decide if those paragraphes are formal or informal and then they have to write the correct answer on their handouts. T stars drawing two circles that have a common part (Venn diagram). Above the first ones T writes Formal and above the second one Informal.

3. T asks to do the next exercise. Ss have to indentify some structures from the previous exercise. Then T fills in the Venn diagram structures characteristic to formal/informal letters. Practice 15 min.
