Job Description

Atkins is one of the world's leading rail engineers. We have established a high profile presence in the Middle East through our role as Lead Designer on the Dubai Metro project, the Rail Systems designer on the Makkah Metro in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and numerous other rail, infrastructure and mixed use projects across the GCC region. We are currently looking for a degree qualified Engineer with a minimum of 8 years experience to join our team

Desired Skills & Experience

Responsibilities As a member of the Fire Engineering team the post holder will be responsible for providing fire safety strategies and solutions. This will involve the preparation of strategy reports, review of designs, development of fire engineering solutions and liaison with other disciplines within the design team on fire safety related matters such as: Means of escape Fire alarm and detection systems Construction Fire suppression systems Fire modelling Fire brigade access and facilities Fire protection building services engineering design, from concept design through to construction issue and site supervision Supervising the work of junior engineers Carrying out design calculations on a variety of buildings Preparing technical specifications Supervising the preparation of BIM/CAD models and drawings Representing Atkins at meetings with clients, contractors and Qatar Civil Defence Site surveys and inspections Report writing Maintaining records and archives to company standards Manage own workload Monitor site works Review of Fire Policy Drawings

Requirements A relevant Fire Engineering qualification or Engineering degree. Potential for Engineering Registration in Qatar Around 8 years similar experience working in a design consultancy - some experience of working within a contractor environment is welcome Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment Good report writing skills A thorough working knowledge of relevant Fire Engineering Codes and Standards such as NFPA and BS EN. Able to make presentations to clients and Qatar Civil Defence Department. Role related degree or higher (logistics, construction or engineering) Essential Criteria

Minimum 15 years direct logistics experience and knowledge associated with a construction environment (contractor or consultancy or equivalent domain). Professional engineer, chartered status or membership of associated professional body. Ability to coordinate and integrate complex logistics processes and strategies with construction and to develop them into operational plans for implementation and monitoring. Good knowledge of principles of the construction supply chain, waste recovery, off-site construction, demand smoothing, construction consolidation centres and reverse logistics. Development of logistics proposals into effective operational systems and utilise change management techniques to improve established working practices. Experience/knowledge in development of regional/country wide logistics strategies. Team Leader, able to manage teams of technical specialists. To develop and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, ministerial departments, and committees. Ability to develop effective communications to coordinate and integrate logistics processes across a wide range of project stakeholders. To represent the CPO at a senior level. The Individual Leadership and influencing skills. Ability to present confidently at senior levels. Rigourous, dynamic and autonomous. A self-starter who needs minimal supervision to fulfil their primary role and responsibilities A lateral thinker who can visualize constraints and develop innovative solutions to exceptional demands An enthusiastic team player Personable and who can be sensitive to other cultural needs and their requirements Highly driven and self-motivated Ability to be discrete if handling sensitive documentation or material Utmost levels of honesty and integrity Willingness to remain flexible and adapt according to change
