Query is a view into the InfoSource data Data is not stored in the Query Query formats the data into a usable set of business intelligence Tasks can be provided for the components to improve calculation or error handling

Steps to Create a Query

1. 2.

Select the InfoProvider for which the query is developed. Select Characteristics from the InfoProvider as default values. Define filter values for characteristics (if wanted)

3.

Select Key Figures from the InfoProvider. Define formulas for calculated key figures (if wanted)

4.

Arrange the Characteristics and Key Figures in rows or columns to create the query layout.

5.

Select Free Characteristics not displayed after initial query processing but which may be used for data analysis later.

6.

Save the query.

Restricted Key Figures

Reusable query elements where the selection definition can be built on the InfoProvider itself

Creates a re-usable specific selection definition of a Key Figure Example: You work in Mexico and you consistently want to see Mexico Net Sales only

So you create a Restricted Key Figure using the following Basic Key Figure of Net Sales Country Selection of Mexico

Calculated Key Figures

Calculated Key Figure provides a reusable key figure based on a calculation of one or more key figures

First you setup the Calculated Key Figure Then you enter the desired formula using one or more key figures

you can create a Calculated Key Figure for average item price using the following Total Sales Volume Invoiced Quantity
