Pirngadi Medan Tahun 2011-2012 Skripsi Fakultas Kedokteran, Universitas Methodist Indonesia Medan Latar belakang: Tonsilektomi merupakan suatu metode pengangkatan dari tonsil. Indikasi tonsilektomi dulu dan sekarang tidak berbeda, namun terdapat perbedaan prioritas relatif dalam menentukan indikasi tonsilektomi pada saat ini. Dulu tonsilektomi diindikasikan untuk terapi tonsilitis kronik dan berulang. Saat ini, indikasi yang lebih utama adalah obstruksi saluran napas dan hipertrofi tonsil. Indikasi tonsilektomi juga berbeda menurut Negara. Kontroversi seputar tonsilektomi masih terjadi sampai sekarang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui indikasi tonsilektomi pada pasien-pasien di RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan tahun 20112012. Metode: Desain penelitian berupa penelitian deskriptif dengan pengambilan data secara retrospektif. Data yang diambil diperoleh dari rekam medik RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan pada tahun 2011-2012.

Hasil: Dari 59 sampel yang telah dianalisa, diperoleh bahwa umur terbanyak 6-20 tahun sebanyak 29 orang ( 49.3%), jenis kelamin terbanyak adalah perempuan sebanyak 32 orang (54.3%), serta dengan indikasi utama disfagia berat, hipertrofi dan hiperemis tonsil sebanyak 59 orang (100%).

Simpulan: Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan gambaran indikasi tonsilektomi yang paling sering ditemukan adalah tonsilitis kronis. Hasil turut menggambarkan indikasi tonsilektomi paling sering pada pasien dengan usia anak dan remaja adalah disfagia berat, hipertrofi dan hiperemis tonsil. Mini Thesis Faculty of Medicine, Indonesia Methodist University Background: Tonsillectomy is a method to remove the tonsil. Indications for tonsillectomy now and then are still the same, but recently, there is a relative priority differences in determining the indications for tonsillectomy. Formerly, tonsillectomy was indicated as a therapy in patients with chronic and recurrent tonsillitis. Nowadays, the main indications for tonsillectomy are airway obstruction and tonsillar hypertrophy. Indications for tonsillectomy are different according to states. The controversy over indications of tonsillectomy still persist until now. The objective of this research is to determine the indications for tonsillectomy in patients at RSUD Dr. Pirngadi from year 2011-2012. Methods: The study design is a descriptive study with retrospective type. The data was collected from medical record RSUD Dr. Pirngadi in 2011-2012. Result: From 59 samples that analyzed, we found that the most age is 6-20 as many as 29 people (49.3%), the woman as many as 32 people (54.3%), then comes with complemend about severe dysphagia, tonsillar hypertrophy and hiperemia as many as 59 people (100%). Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, the most frequent indication for tonsillectomy at RSUD Dr. Pirngadi is chronic tonsillitis. The results also show that the most frequent indication for adult tonsillectomy in children and adolescents is severe dysphagia, tonsillar hypertrophy and hyperemia.
