Bi-syndrome of chest

This is a group of diseases characterized by distension and pain in the chest radiated
to the back, and shortness of breath. Mild cases only feel fullness in the chest, while
severe cases may suffer from heart pain radiated to the back and back pain radiated to
the heart.
Coronary heart disease, angina pectoris in myocardiac infarction, and precordial pain
in pericarditis and other diseases in modern medicine may be treated by the following
methods.
Applications of hand therapy:
1) Massage therapy:
Location: Heart area, thumb and middle finger, Shenmen (HT 7), Shaoshang (LU 11),
Shaochong (HT 9), Zhongchong (PC 9), lung and heart acupoint and heart reflective
point.
Method of manipulation: Kneading and pressing maneuvers applied to the heart area;
twisting and pinching at thumb and middle finger; digit-pressing and kneading at
Shenmen (HT 7), Shaoshang (LU 11)and Shaochong (HT 9), lung and heart acupoint
and heart reflective point.
2) Acupuncture therapy:
(1) At regular and extra acupoint:
Location: Neiguan (PC 6) and J ianshi (PC 5).

Method of manipulation: The needles are inserted to bilateral acupoints for 3.3 cm
and retained for 30 minutes after strong stimulation.
(2) At reflective points:
Location: Heart point and chest point.
Method of manipulation: The needles are inserted for 1.6 cm and retained for five
minutes.
(3) At reflective areas:

minutes.
3) Hand bath:

Bingpian (borneol) 5 g, Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorhizae) 50 g, and Tanxiang

Method of manipulation: Bingpian is dissolved in a hot decoction of other herbs for
steaming and then washing both hands.
4) Hand qigong: Physical and breath exercise for distension of chest and abdomen.
The practitioner takes a pole-standing posture with legs separated at shoulder width
and heels apart. Breath is adjusted and the mind is stilled. Both arms are crossed and
placed on the chest: the slightly flexed legs are still with upper body weight
intentionally applied to the lower limbs. The exercise is continued until the distension
of chest is released. The effect may be even better if the exercise is continued for a
longer time. The attention is concentrated at the navel and the navel qi is transported
upward through a spiral route to the chest, then to both arms and discharged from
Laogong (PC 8) acupoint on both palms. If the distension of chest can be relieved,
attention is concentrated at the back and qi is transported upward to the head and
discharged from Baihui (GV 20) acupoint. This is an effective exercise.
