The Prime Ministers of Trinidad & Tobago

Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar (2010- present) Mrs. Persad-Bissessar is the political leader of the United National Congress and leads the Peoples Partnership, a coalition of five parties, formed for the Trinidad and Tobago 2010 general election.

Mr. Patrick Augustus Mervyn Manning (1991- 1995) (2001-2010) Mr. Manning was the fourth and sixth Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the former Political Leader of the Peoples National Movement (PNM). He served as Prime Minister from 17 December 1991 to 9 November 1995 and held that office again from 24 December 2001 until 26 May 2010.

Mr. Basdeo Panday (1995 2000) (2001) Mr. Panday was the 5th Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago from 1995 to 2001 under the United National Congress (UNC).

Mr. Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson (1986-1991) Mr. Robinson was Trinidad and Tobago's third Prime Minister, serving in that capacity from 18 December 1986 to 17 December 1991 under the National Alliance for Reconstruction (NAR).

Mr. George Michael Chambers (1981- 1986) Mr. George Michael Chambers was the second Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago from 1981 to 1986) under the Peoples National Movement (PNM).

Dr. Eric Eustace Williams (1956-1981) Dr. Eric Eustace Williams served as the first Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago. He served from 1956 until his death in 1981. He was also a noted historian, and is widely regarded as "The Father of The Nation."

The Head of State Governor General & Presidents

Sir Solomon Hochoy was the last British Governor of Trinidad and Tobago, the first non-white Governor and the first Governor General after independence from August, 31st 1962 1972.

Sir Ellis Emmanuel Innocent Clarke was the second and last Governor-General of Trinidad serving from February 1973 to August 1st, 1976 and Tobago and the first President of Trinidad and Tobago serving from 1st August 1976 to 13th March 1987.

Mr. Noor Mohamed Hassanali was the second President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago serving from 19th March 1987 to 19th March 1997.

Mr. Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson was the third President of Trinidad and Tobago, serving from 19th March 1997 to 17th March 2003.

Mr. George Maxwell Richards is the fourth President of Trinidad and Tobago serving from 17th March 2003 to present.
