GENERAL REVIEW CHAPTER 3 Teaching and learning is such a complex thing that needs more attention. Before teaching, it is important to prepare everything well. Planning is part of preparation which is very crucial. Good planning will give good impact as well to the student while they are learning as well as the teacher in delivering the topic. When students learn effectively then they will have better understanding not merely memorizing the lesson. However, not all of teachers realize the importance of having good planning, especially for new teacher. In this case, the new teachers need assistance from the experienced teachers regarding lesson plan and preparation. Generally, teachers only focus on the lesson and forget to discover students characteristics. Understanding the students will help the teachers to prepare study plan well because it should be based on the students needs. A comprehensive planning will be very helpful but needs more effort to prepare. Practically, at the beginning of the class is the key of successful in teaching and learning. The teachers have to lead the students to engage with the lesson and encourage students to involve by giving their idea or knowledge. It is better not to teach students memorizing lesson but to understand. Effective learning is centered on the students, not on the teachers and interaction among students and teachers is important. The other thing that is important as well is about assessment. There are many way to assess students achievement in teaching and learning process. The effective assessment should be balanced and seamless; integration process starting from the first till end of learning; and consists of several methods. Assessing is not only giving grade but focus on the ability of students in demonstrating and appreciating what they have learned.

GENERAL REVIEW CHAPTER 4 Assessment is part of teaching and learning process that should be noticed. Assessment system has to provide a picture of students achievements based on learning goal. There as several components of assessments i.e.: learning goal which means that there are standards of assessing can be based on local, national, or international. It has been said that good assessment should be continuity and comprehensive starting from the beginning, during teaching and learning process, and till the end of the process. At the beginning of teaching and learning process, it should diverse the learners and bring them ready to learn. During the instruction, assessment can be done but not has to be graded because it is focused on understanding the students whether they learn actively or not. At the end of instruction, there will be grading given to the student because that is the time to make a conclusion about what students have learned. Assessment should be planned early while the teachers preparing for study plan. Good planning will consist of learning goal, instruction, and assessment. The assessment is an integral part of goal and purpose that is set on diagnostic, formative, and summative. Finally, grading students is part of assessment that has many aspects should be noticed. There are lots of methods in grading the students; using points or percentage.
