Lesson Aims: I. Achievement aims: - By the end of the lesson, the Ss will be better able to use specific information about a certain topic; - The Ss will be able to use the new vocabulary in the proper context(s); - The Ss will be able to answer some questions related to the four seasons; - The Ss will be able to talk about the weather.

II. Procedure aims: - The Ss will work individually, in pairs; - The Ss will listen to a sing and mime; -The Ss will practise language in a particular context; - The Ss will practise listening, speaking and reading.

Stages of the Lesson


Warm-up: The teacher greets the students, introduces the guest and asks if anybody is absent. (3 minutes).

Activity 1 Aim: - to introduce and present the new words to the Ss; - to activate the vocabulary of the lesson. Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T Time: 12 minutes Procedure: The T reads the title of the lesson and elicits what the unit is going to be about. Then she shows the Ss flashcards with the seasons and the weather. She presents the seasons, one at a time. The Ss repeat. Then, she points to the weather illustrations and presents the weather (windy, hot/sunny, its raining, its snowing/cold.) The Ss repeat chorally and individually. Materials: flashcards

Activity 2 Aim: - to practise the new vocabulary Interaction: T-Ss, S-Ss Time: 12 minutes Procedure: The T plays the chant on the cassette. The Ss listen and read. Then the T reads the chant and mimes the weather words, encouraging the Ss to join in. Then the T plays the chant again. The Ss listen and do the miming. After that the T mimes and the Ss have to say the

weather word and the season. The activity ends with a S doing the miming and the others trying to guess. Materials: cassette recorder

Activity 3 Aim: - to produce the new vocabulary Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T Time: 5 minutes Procedure: The T hands out the slips of paper [make a snowman; make a kite; make a sandcastle; swim; wear our macs; ski; go for a picnic] and says: Its snowing. Lets make a snowman and then she writes on the board. The Ss repeat after the T. Then the T says another weather condition and invites the Ss with slips of paper that correspond with this type of weather to respond. Then the T does the same with: Its raining., Its windy., Its hot and sunny. Materials: slips of paper; blackboard Activity 4 Aim: - to develop the Ss listening and reading skills Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-T Time: 16 minutes Procedure: The T goes through the pictures of the dialogue with the Ss and sets the scene by asking questions. Then the T reads the instructions and explains the task. Then she plays the cassette and checks the Ss answers. After that she plays the cassette with pauses for the Ss to listen and repeat chorally, checking the Ss pronunciation and intonation at the same time. After that the Ss take roles and read out the dialogue. Materials: cassette recorder, book

Homework: The Ss are given two exercises as homework. (2 minutes)
