Heart palpitations

This is a disease characterized by attacks of fright and anxiety with rapid heart beat
and sometimes loss of self-control. usually caused by emotional disturbance or
overfatigue and often accompanied by insomnia, poor memory, vertigo, and tinnitus.
Cardiac arrhythmia due to various causes, including tachycardia, bradycardia,
presystole, auricular fibrillation and flutter, auriculoventricular block, sick sinus
syndrome, pre-excitation syndrome, heart failure, myocarditis, pericarditis, and
neurasthenia in modern medicine may be treated by the following methods.
Applications of hand therapy:
1) Massage therapy:
Location: Entire palm, either side of little finger, heart area, kidney area, cardiac
palpitation point, Shenmen (HT 7), Shaofu (HT 8), Daling (PC 7) and Shaochong (HT
9).
Method of manipulation: Forcibly rubbing entire palm, rubbing and kneading central
part of palm, and rubbing either side of little finger to produce a hot sensation;
pressing central part of palm, heart area and kidney area; digit-pressing and kneading
maneuvers applied at Shenmen (HT 7), Shaofu (HT 8), Daling (PC 7) and Shaochong
(HT 9); and pinching and kneading at cardiac palpitation point. The manipulation
should be gently applied and body warmth should be maintained.
2) Acupuncture therapy:
(1) At regular and extra acupoints:
Location: Neiguan (PC 6) and Shenmen (HT 7) acupoints.
Method of manipulation: The needles are inserted for 1.6 cm and retained for 30
minutes.
(2) At reflective point:
Location: Heart point.
Method of manipulation: The needle is inserted for 1.6 cm and retained for five
minutes.
(3) At reflective area:
Location: Heart area of palmar reflective areas.
Method of manipulation: The needle is shallowly inserted and not retained.
(4) At special acupoint beside the second metacarpal bone:
Location: Lung and heart acupoint.
Method of manipulation: The needle is inserted for 1.6 cm and retained for 10
minutes after mild needling stimulation.
3) Hand qigong: Kongjin exercise.
The hand is prone with the palm facing downward and all 10 fingers extended and
relaxed. The little finger is flexed downward and then the hands resume the original
ladder pattern; all fingers are extended and relaxed and the middle finger is flexed
downward and then the hands resume the ladder pattern, then the fingers are extended
and relaxed and the little and middle fingers are flexed downward, and the hands

resume the ladder pattern. This exercise is repeated 11 times and the entire exercise is
ended after a pole-standing exercise in the riding-horse posture for five minutes.
