TYPES OF RESEARCH
APPLIED RESEARCH
Investigation of the findings of pure or basic research, to determine if they could be used to develop new products or technologies. Also, the research conducted to solve specific problems or to answer specific questions. No invention takes places. Eg: There is a vast scope for applied research in the field of Technology , Management, Commerce, Economics, and other social sciences.

PURE RESEARCH

Research carried out of the purpose of better understanding fundamental concepts within a scientific field, rather than in search of a particular commercial goal. Pure research generally does not produce marketable results, but may be used for later research into more specific and profitable application. Invention takes place Eg:Pure research formed the basics for innumerable scientific & technological inventions like Steam engine, Machines, Telecommunications, Electronic Gadgets etc.

Characteristics of Good Research

Clearly Defined Purpose Detailed Research Process
Thoroughly Planned Design

High Ethical Standard Limitation Addressed Adequate Analysis Unambiguous presentation Conclusion Justified Credentials

Clearly Defined Purpose

The researcher should clearly define its purpose on paper to make the customers clear about what and why the research is conducted.

Eg: Research conducted to know who all prefer Lux?

Detailed Research Process

The research conducted should be step by step rather than doing in haphazard manner. To know the real outcome of the research ,it should be followed step by step and in process Eg: clearly define the objective of research to preparation of report all the steps should be followed systematically.

Thoroughly Planned Design

The research should be properly planned with the proper structure so as to get the researchs output clear and fair.
Eg: If the objective is stated after the completion of the report then the conclusion will not match with the objective.

High Ethical Standard

Research thus conducted should be ethical. It means whatever structure planned should be followed fair and should not follow any wrong practices.
Eg: Questionnaire filled should be done by the customers selected and not by the researcher itself.

Limitation Addressed

While conducting research, researcher come across certain limitation which he should not ignore rather the researcher should address those limitation and conduct the research.
Eg: Research conducted faces time problem.

Adequate Analysis

Old research methods to analysis has become obsolete. A researcher should follow advanced technologies to get his her work done faster without any calculation mistakes.
Eg: Instead of using TALLY MARKS use Excel to analysis the data

Unambiguous presentation

While giving presentations researcher should make sure that what is needed in presentation should only be addressed .
Eg: A presentation includes table , graph and its interpretation is an unambiguous presentation.

Conclusion Justified

Conclusions pull together the various results of the study, consider what they mean, and suggest their importance.

Eg: Conclusion should be based on the data analyzed and there should exist correlation between the analysis and the conclusion drawn from it.
