Vector graphics is the formation of digital images using a series of

commands or mathematical statements that position lines and shapes in given 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional spaces. (using the Cartesian (x,y) points). It is a 1:1 representation scalable to any size without losing quality or accuracy. Bitmaps take longer to download from the internet than vector shapes, unless they are compressed. Eventually, a vector image is changed into a raster graphics image, which maps bits directly to a display space (which is sometimes referred to as bitmap). In order for the vector image to be ported between systems, it can be converted to a raster image prior to its display.
