USACE CAD Tasks & Templates

This document is intended to provide step-by-step instructions to implement the US Army Corps of Engineers CAD Tasks and Templates with the Tri-Services 09Q4b_V8i Bentley Workspace. This implementation should be carried out by a CAD Manager with knowledge of Microstation management and workspaces. These CAD Tasks and Templates were created by/for the US Army Corps of Engineers and are an introduction to new technology in MicroStation V8i SELECTSeries. These Tasks and Templates are to replace the old NetSpecs toolbars along with Settings Manager resources and will offer all the functionality that Settings Manager did and more. The MicroStation Tasks are collections of similar tool groups organized using MicroStations Task Based Interface. The tools in the USACE Customized CAD Tasks are linked to MicroStation Element Templates, which behavior similar to the old Settings Manager. The Element Templates linked to individual tools of the the customized Tasks will automatically set the proper symbology (Level, Color, Weight, Line Style, Cell, Scale, etc) for the selected tool to be compliant with the AEC CAD Standard. The various Task sets can be accessed from the USACOE Tasks menu that has been added to the standard MicroStation menus.

Integrating Tasks & Templates into Tri-Services 09Q4b_V8i Workspace

To deploy the CAD Tasks & Templates into the 09Q4b_V8i TriServices Workpsace simply unzip the TS_Dataset_09Q4b_V8i.zip file into the ...\TS_Workspaces\TS_Dataset_09Q4b_V8i\ directory of your networked workspace (see image below).

If prompted withDo you still want to merge this folder toggle the option for Do this for all current items (1 found) and then choose Yes.

If prompted with There is already a file with the same name in this location toggle ON the option for Do this for the next 34 conflicts then click Copy and Replace.

Additional Documentation on TS_MDL_Apps

Under the TS_MDL APPS Task there are three MDL applications available; Civil/Site Tools, Area Tools, and Structural Steel Tools. These are CAD based utilities created by Bentley to increase productivity for the respective CAD operations.
