It is a great joy for me to live the faith with the young people of DSYM (Delhi
Syro Malabar Youth Movement) at Bl.Mariam Thresia Church, Burari unit. Jesus has called you to be disciples with a mission to Go, Do not afraid and Serve. You are able to enjoy the wonderful experience of meeting Jesus and sensing the Joy of Faith in todays life situations. The experience of Jesus must not remain locked up in your life, in the parish, your families, your communities, your colleges or your offices. It has to be shared and passed on to everyone to make known Jesus Christ. God says to us as He said to Jeremiah, Be not afraid, for I am with you to deliver you (Jer.1:7-8). Let us move towards the humanity and proclaim Christ. It is true dear friends that Jesus never leaves anyone alone. He always accompanies us. Dear young friends, let us be like St. Paul, who made himself a slave to all to win more (1Cor.9:19). Let us bear personal witness to the love of God as you have taken many initiatives to bring the light of knowledge to many. I acknowledge and appreciate the firm steps you are climbing with the help of the Parish Priest and the Animators. As you experience the unconditional love of God you will destroy and overthrow the barriers of selfishness, intolerance and hearted, so as to build a new world filled with Peace, Joy and Harmony. I congratulate the Parish Priest and Director Rev. Fr. Peter Kanjirakattukary, the Animator Rev. Sr. Retty CHF, the President Mr. Vinoj Xavier, the Secretary Mr. Tijo Gregory and all the members in the DSYM Burari unit, for the self-radiant approach in showing light to the Electronic News Letter YUVADEEPTI.

Tijo Gregory- EDITOR (Yuvadeepti) YOUTH- is a term which associates with a stage in human life which is symbolized with strong determinations, good will power and confidence etc wrapped with a great joy of freedom, hope and happiness. Youth have vital roles to be played in society as well as in church. Youth always have a different point of view towards problems of society and many times this different point of view seems to be an overwhelming barrier but the almighty has provided youth, strength to overcome these barriers. Youth are the main forces in many social activities as they are having those capabilities that can make the things happen. Unemployment, inequality, exploitations, corruptions are one of the few major problems which youth are facing these days but no youth should depart from their duties of building a strong nation with no inequality, no corruption and no discriminations on basis of caste, gender or color. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope Jeremiah-29:11 We should be glad that our lord has plans for each of us which can give us a good future and nice hopes. We must be good example of believers to the world. We all must be good preachers of down to Earth personalities and friendly behaviors. We should be a good support to our church as church being the body of Christ. We must be good ideals for catechism students so that they may learn from us too.

Importance of catechism

Nirmal Mathew
Catechism we have come upon this word a number of times but we still do not realize the actual meaning of this. Well, it is not just studying textbooks & saint books, it is all about practicing moral values that we get through textbooks, teachers and parents in our daily life and understanding who our lord is. As a Christian we get through catechism from class 1, and as we grow up Jesus and church play an integral part in nurturing our behavior and our attitude towards our life. The basis of catechism is always taught by our parents. Catechism is an added advantage to us as through it we are able to know our god more deeply on weekly basis as compared to other religions. So lets be sure that we make the most out of it and becom e a good human being for the church, society and the nation.

Must be the almighty.

Almighty, almighty I bow into thee Take up all the burdens And set me free

Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.- Mt: 17:20

Johnson Joseph
Sounds little strange isnt it? Well I have read the above lines in the scripture many times before but never had any personal experience to justify this. On 16th July,2006, I got a seizure attack in the noon and I was taken to the hospital, the whole way I was continuously vomiting and by the time we reached hospital I fainted. After 4 hours, I regained consciousness and saw my family members and some friends surrounding me. After spending one whole day at hospital, the next morning when it was time to discharge, the doctor asked to get CT-scan and MRI of brain and we proceeded further as per his instructions. In the evening, when we went back to the doctor with the reports of MRI and CT-scan, he concluded that this seizure attack was due to the growth of cyst (a special type of worm) in the brain and the cyst had laid its egg also. And he further said that the medical treatment for this would take next 5 to 6 years. Again in the year 2008, and in 2010, I faced three such attacks last being in June, 2010. Till this period I had been taking heavy doses of medicines everyday but still it hardly showed any effect. Two years after treatment started, once, I asked him that how long will it take me to recover and get rid of these medicines so he said ,Arre yaar, tumhe kaun bola ki bimaari jaldi theek ho jaayegi, tumhe toh zindagi bhar yeh medicines khaani padegi . After hearing this I was literally shattered from inside but didnt express it much. Every day his words echoed in my ears but I didnt give up. On 21st October, 2012 I went to the National Youth Retreat Move the Mountains at Jeevan Jyoti Ashram. There during the adoration time the Priest announced that someone amongst us had been suffering from epilepsy from a long time and someone told this person that he would never get rid off from this, but now I tell you that Jesus Christ has healed you. After hearing this I was very happy but I really doubted that was it me only who was healed? And the moment I raised my eyes towards the Altar, I saw big posture of Jesus on the background above it there was mentioned the lines If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. This boosted up my morale and I firmly believed that the Almighty Lord has healed me. After this healing, I went for MRI and EEG of my brain this May 31, 2013 and two days later went to a new doctor with those reports and my past 6 years reports. After analyzing all my reports, the doctor said that the worm is completely destroyed and there is no spot of any cyst in my brain and concluded that I am absolutely fine and need not to take medicines anymore. Thank You Lord! Halleluiah! Love you Jesus.

Everyone has heard of the terrible twos but what most parents dread nowadays are the terrible teens. What makes parents look at an individual who happens to fall in the age group of 13 19, with complete and utter despair? To be honest, we are just harmless humans, living our lives the way we find appropriate. So what if we have a phone perpetually attached to our ears like appendage or if we plug earphones and become oblivious to moms ultrasonic shrieks? So what if facebook does replace the textbooks? It seems absurd that not only parents, but teachers, who can solve the most complicated equations, appear completely baffled and believe me we need medical assistance when we go about our daily life of head banging music and other potential senseless activities. For adults, we are rebels, one who resist authority, control or accepted behavior but what they dont see is that the most successful people in the world, started off as rebels too. So dear adults nurture such rebellious behavior and hopefully, we will make you proud one day.

The great missionary is Jesus. The great mission that jesus has give to us is Go to the whole world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation St. Mark 16:15. Faith year invites you and me to be salt of Earth and light of the whole world. Through baptism we have become the members of the church and the part of body of christ. And we have duties to make Jesus grow and spread. Jesus love everyone through our presence. Being a little missionary of Jesus I have a unique mission to fulfill where I am palnted through my way of life. We have many saints and good people who have lived and died as a misionary for the word to be followed. With courage and love let us follow them, and spread the message of love, peace and joy of Jesus to the people of our India. Let St. Thomas and St. paul be our role models. Let us all be renewed I mission year and let us be compassionate, let us give a smile to everyone. Respect to the elders. Let us give a helping hand to the friends and needy. Let us bring gods kingdom among us and proclaim that Jesus is the only saviour.

Dont be insensitive to gods call towards you. He wants and can enable you to live he wants and to keep you to believe and be saved. Listen to and learn from what god says so you can tell the difference between right and wrong. Then god will live in you and he will enable you to succeed at applying his principles, overcoming all your harmful desires. This life consists of being filled with the Holy Spirit, who satisfies our soul. Then we truly will worship god. We worship from start to end and along the overcome our frail harmful nature, after applying gods will to our life; giving up the worldly things and forgiving each other. Jesus knows you love him by the way you apply the principles, which is summed up by loving each other as Jesus loves us. doing much of this will bring glory to god, and he will reveal himself to us right now in this world we must do the work of god until it is finished, and it is difficult to do his work in this world. believers will do what Jesus did and have his joy. Broadcast the principles as you apply them yourself. Jesus conquered death and has authority over all life; therefore carry the gospel, baptize people and teach people. When Jesus and the father see you continuously applying their principles and producing many lasting good results, they will give you whatever you ask for in Jesus name , and Jesus will give you his peace as well. The way is narrow and you cannot buck the system. After all is said and done you better have done what god has said. Whoever does not bear good results will be cut off from god and will be burned.

India, a land of diverse cultures, rich heritage and above all, a land of various goddesses but the reality has confined these goddesses to mere idols. Well I have another definition for India; it is also a country where crime against women is at its peak. You name a crime and the victim ought to be a woman, you name a NGO and the cause ought to be the welfare of women in some field or other. So what is the empowerment we talk about? Does empowerment mean the freedom to report crime in the nearby police station? Probably empowerment is another word for a female president or a chief minister, a female IPL team owner? No, it is not empowerment of women today has become synonymous with the statistics that reveal that women has equal opportunity and equal status in the society as man do. But as such statistics revealed, men ask their wives to abort their baby child. What empowerment we are talking about when baby girls are denied their place on this Earth. Just a glance at the newspaper in the morning and we have a list of crimes against women. Cases of rapes, assault, trafficking and dowry are the headlines of every newspaper. What are we as a society, as a country heading towards? Providing girls with education and jobs does not completely empower them. What we need today is a system that does not only mark the citizens literate but also imparts an education that develops a respect for women in them. When each citizen learns to respect women, they will get empowered automatically. It is high time that we are realizing that women have not only the capability of moving at the same pace as that of men but also have an immense capacity to change the destiny of nation for the better. I agree that giving rights to women, providing them with just laws against all kinds of crimes against them; giving them opportunities to grow is essential but what is more important is that each citizen learns to respect womanhood. Once we as individuals are able to bring about this change there is no limit to what we can achieve as a nation.

The Road Of Life..

Jinu John
At first I saw God as my observer, my judgeKeeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die. He was out there sort of like a president. I recognized His picture when I saw it, But I didn't really know Him .it seemed as though life were rather like a bike ride, but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that Christ was in the back helping me pedal. I don't know just when it was that He suggested that we change places, but life has not been the same since. When I had control, I knew the way. It was rather boring, but predictable...It was the shortest distance between two points. But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, mountains, and through rock places at breakneck speeds, it was all I could do to hang on! Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!"I was worried and anxious and asked," Where are you taking me?"He laughed and didn't answer, and I started to learn to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure..And when I'd say, "I'm scared," He'd lean back and touch my hand .He took me to people with gifts that I needed, They gave me gifts to take on my journey. My Lord's and mine. And we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away; they're extra baggage, too much weight."So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I received, and still our burden was light. I did not trust Him at first, in control of my life. I thought He'd wreck it; it But He knows the bike secrets, knows how to make bend to take sharp corners, knows how to jump to clear high rocks, knows how to fly to shorten scary passages. And I am learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest places, and I'm beginning to enjoy the view and the cool breeze on my face with my delightful companion, Jesus Christ. And when I'm sure that I just can't do anymore. He just smiles and says..."Pedal."

Alwin Thomas Tom The lord Jesus Christ was crucified buried and rose from the dead on 3rd day. Mary Magdalene, who had been freed by the power of Jesus from the grip of seven devils that had possessed her from coming to the tomb of Jesus with gratitude. Early in the morning she was shocked o see that the tomb stone rolled away she ran to announce this to disciples. Peter ad John looked into the tomb; they found the body of Jesus missing but the cloth in which his body had been rounded was lying there. As they didnt understand what was happening, they went to their own homes but Mary Magdalene stood there weeping in answer to her true lo0ve and gratitude Jesus who rose from the dead by the power of god almighty appeared 1st to her after his resurrection. The reason why a poor woman received this blessing which was denied even to his beloved disciples was the faith she had in him this is what st. Paul calls godly addiction in faith in Tim 1:5, 6.

Women Empowerment

Jeenu Cherian
Gender equality is, first and foremost, a human right. A woman is entitled to live in dignity and in freedom from want and from fear. Empowering women is also an indispensable tool for advancing development and reducing poverty. Empowered women contribute to the health and productivity of whole families and communities and to improved prospects for the next generation. The importance of gender equality is underscored by its inclusion as one of the eight Millennium Development Goals. Gender equality is acknowledged as being a key to achieving the other seven goals. Yet discrimination against women and girls - including gender-based violence, economic discrimination, reproductive health inequities, and harmful traditional practices - remains the most pervasive and persistent form of inequality. They are far less likely than men to be politically active and far more likely to be victims of domestic violence. The ability of women to control their own fertility is absolutely fundamental to womens empowerment and equality. When a woman can plan her family, she can plan the rest of her life. When she is healthy, she can be more productive. And when her reproductive rights including the right to decide the number, timing and spacing of her children, and to make decisions regarding reproduction free of discrimination, coercion and violence are promoted and protected, she has freedom to participate more fully and equally in society. Gender equality implies a society in which women and men enjoy the same opportunities, outcomes, rights and obligations in all spheres of life. In many countries women are also responsible for agricultural production and selling. Often they take on paid work or entrepreneurial enterprises as well. Unpaid domestic work from food preparation to care giving directly affects the health and overall well being and quality of life of children and other household members. The need for womens unpaid labour often increases with economic shocks, such as those associated with the AIDS pandemic or economic restructuring. Yet women's voices and lived experiences whether as workers (paid and unpaid), citizens, or consumers are still largely missing from debates on finance and development. If parents view daughters as less likely to take paid work or earn market wages, they may be less inclined to invest in their education, women's fastest route out of poverty. Empowering Women through Education: "Education is one of the most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process."

The world is advancing much faster. The whole world is at the top of the finger of the human beings. Science and technology has removed the distance between man and space. Yet man is isolated being buried under his heavy responsibilities. He is surrounded by dreadful loneliness which results in committing suicide. The trials and difficulties imbalance him. Because he is believes in cosmic powers which is unable to accompany at his errors, failures and weakness. As the scripture depicts when Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples who do people say that the son of man is. Then Simon Peter replied You are the Messiah! The son of living God. It was close union with Jesus that enabled Simon Peter to claim you are the Messiah. If Jesus asks me the same question I would say that He is my friend and Saviour. Yes Jesus is my faithful friend who never departs or leaves me alone when I commit errors and mistakes. He never accuses me or ridicules at me. Rather he stands beside defying me and accompanying in my ups and downs of my life. St. Jn 15:23 says there is no greater love than this to lay down ones own life for his friend. Yes! I believe Jesus is my Saviour who willingly laid down his life as a ransom to redeem me from the crutches of son and to make me completely a free child of God my heavenly father. For this he allowed me to be born in a Christian family and entrusted me under the care of my loving parents who deepen my faith through their very life examples. It is through them that I came to know who Jesus is in my life. Through Family prayers, Holy mass, catechism and bible story they helped me to deepen my faith in him. I love my Jesus who gave me the privilege to be the part of this wonderful world and I am proud to say that he is my faithful friend and Saviour who will never fail in accompanying me until my death.

Jesus the Divine Healer

In the beginning of His public ministry, Jesus, boldly proclaimed His Mission Statement-The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised (Luke 4:18). In other words, healing has been the central part of his ministry. Thousands used to throw at him for healing. Some vital needs are highlighted below: The Need for Repentance: Healing from Jesus aims much higher than the physical healing. It embraces the whole world. Soul lives eternally and therefore taking care of the soul is more important than taking care of the bogy. This great mismatch in human perspective has produced wide variety of afflictions physically, mentally, spiritually; and it has distorted vision towards the life itself. In His early ministry Jesus asked the healed person not to publicize the healing because the physical healing is not an end by itself unless the soul is also healed which has an eternal life. He was the promised Messiah and he had a mission to achieve. Sacraments, Intercession of Mother Mary ,Saints and Relying on the Promises in the Holy Bible :All sacraments especially Eucharistic is really a sacrament of healing. In the daily Eucharistic Celebration that is taking place in thousands of parishes and Mass centers the same Calvary sacrifice is repeated in atonement for our sins. Jesus is the Lamb of God. It is this Lamb of God who scarifies life in atonement for our sins. Conclusion In the light of this insight let us make an honest surrender to Jesus with repentance, humility, faith and love. A surrounded heart results in the ming enlightened by the holy spirit
