Q. How do you write double consonants?

A. When writing in hiragana or katakana, the double consonants (kk, pp, ss, or tt) are
expressed with a small "tsu" in place of the first consonant. See the examples below:
kekkon (marriage), kippu (ticket), kitte (stamp), and kissaten (cafe).
