Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), is a statutory
regulatory body established by an Act of Parliament, to protect
the interests of investors in securities, to promote the
development of and to regulate the securities market. SEBI
invites applications from Indian citizens for the post of Officer
Grade A (General Stream).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Educational qualification as on 31/07/2013 : Masters
Degree i n Economi cs/ Commerce/ MBA/Post
Graduate Degree in Management/ Post Graduate
Diploma in Management with 55 % marks (50% for SC/
ST/ PWD) in the aggregate from a recognized
University/Institute, CA/CFA/CS/ICWA.
Computer Literacy: Candidates are expected to be
computer literate and conversant with MS Office, Word
and Excel Applications.
Work experience: Experience in the related field will
be considered during the selection process. The
candidate will be required to submit the experience
certificate(s) from employer(s).
Age limit (as on 31/07/2013): Not above 27 years as
on 31/07/2013 i.e. applicants must have been born on
or after 01/08/1986 (Relaxable by 10 years for PWD
candidates, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years
for OBC candidates). There is no age limit for internal
candidates.
MODE OF SELECTION: Mode of selection will be On-
Line Examination and Interview as under:
On-Line Examination: An on-line examination of
Objective type (Multiple Choice) for 200 marks will
tentatively be held on Sunday, 15/09/2013. The
examination will consist of sections for i) English
Language, ii) Quantitative Aptitude, iii) Reasoning ability
and iv) General Awareness. Candidates would have to
secure minimum marks separately for each section
as decided by SEBI, based on Group Performance.
Interview: Candidates will be short-listed for interview
based on the aggregate marks obtained in the online
examination.
SEBI reserves the right to modify the selection
procedure, if deemed fit.
PRE-EXAMINATION TRAINING FOR SC/ST/PWD
CANDIDATES :
SEBI will arrange pre-examination training for the SC/
ST/PWD candidates, free of cost, at Chennai, Kolkata,
Mumbai and New Delhi centers. Candidates who desire
to avail of the training may apply separately by e-mail
at preexamtraining@sebi.gov.in, while indicating their
choice of centers. However, SEBI reserves the right to
allocate any of the above centres. Candidates will be
required to make arrangement for their stay, travel etc.
for the duration of the training.
SEBI reserves the right to cancel the training at one or
more of the centers depending upon the availability of
candidates.
SERVICE CONDITIONS/ PAY AND ALLOWANCES:
Remuneration: The incumbent will be on a scale of
pay of Officer Grade A in the scale of Rs. 17100-
1000(11)-28100-EB-1000(4)-32100-1100(1)-33200.
Presently, the gross emolument including Grade
Allowance, Special Allowance, Dearness Allowance,
Family Allowance, Local Allowance etc. at Mumbai at
the minimum of this scale is approx Rs. 65,000/- p.m.
without accommodation and Rs. 45,000/- p.m. with
accommodation.
Benefits: Other benefits viz LFC, Medical Expenses
(both declaration and nondeclaration), Financial Dailies,
Book Grant, Briefcase, Vehicle Maintenance, House
Cleaning Allowance, Entertainment Allowance, Health
Check up, Eye Refraction Test, Subsidized Lunch
Facility and all other benefits as admissible to an Officer
in Grade A in SEBI.
The CTC for the post would be Rs. 11 lacs (approx)
p.a.
Accommodation: All efforts would be made to provide
residential accommodation, subject to availability.
Posting: The i ncumbent may be posted and
transferred to any location in India where SEBI has its
Offices.
EXAMINATION CENTRES:
The On-Line examination will be held at the following
centres:

Chennai Guwahati Kochi
Ahmedabad Lucknow Patna
The addresses of the venue will be advised in the call
letter. Candidates are required to indicate the preferred
test centre in the application form. SEBI however,
reserves the right to cancel any of the Examination
Centres and/ or add some other Centres, depending
upon the response, administrative feasibility, etc.
As far as possible candidates will be allotted to a centre
of his/her choice. However SEBI also reserves the right
to allot the candidate to any centre other than the one
he/she has opted for.
In case a candidate is allotted a test centre other than
his preferred centre, he/ she will be intimated of the
change in centre by 02/09/2013 by e-mail.
Candidate will appear for the examination at an
Examination Centre at his/ her own risks and expenses
and SEBI will not be responsible for any injury or losses
etc. of any nature.
No request for change of centre for Examination shall
be entertained.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS :
Candidate, who is eligible and desires to apply for the
above post, should submit an ON-LINE application
with requisite fee/ intimation charges (wherever
applicable).
Before applying ON-LINE, a candidate will be required
to have a valid E-mail ID (which should remain active
during the entire recruitment process), scanned
(digital) image of his/her photograph and signature as
per the specifications.
Fees sent in any other manner not prescribed in this
advertisement and / or the application submitted without
depositing the fee/ intimation charges (unless
exempted) would be rejected and no correspondence
shall be entertained in this regard.
Candidates should satisfy themselves about their
eligibility for the post applied for.
If the candidates are not eligible or have knowingly or
willfully furnished incorrect or false particulars or
suppressed material information, their candidature will
be liable to be cancelled at any stage of the selection.
If the candidate qualifies in the selection process and
subsequently it is found that he/she does not fulfill the
eligibility criteria, his/her candidature will be cancelled
and if appointed, the appointment would be terminated
without any notice or compensation.
Mode of selection will be ON-LINE examination and
interview. Only the short-listed candidates will be called
for interview. Application fee shall not be refunded to
the candidates not short-listed for the interview.
Candidates who are already in service of Govt./ Quasi-
Govt. Organizations and Public Sector Banks
Undertakings will have to produce a No Objection
Certificate from their employer, at the time of Interview.
Before appointment in SEBI, a proper discharge
certificate from the employer will have to be produced.
Outstation candidates called for Interview will be
reimbursed single AC Three Tier Class railway fare for
the to and fro journey by the shortest route, subject to
submission of necessary documentary evidence.
SEBI does not assume any responsibility for the
candidates not being able to submit their applications
within the last date.
The decision of Board in all matters would be final and
binding, and no correspondence in this regard would
be entertained.
SEBI reserves the right to relax any of the requirements
for the candidates in deserving cases.
SEBI reserves the right to cancel the advertisement,
fully or partly on any grounds m. In all matters regarding
eligibility, conduct of examinations, interviews,

HOW TO APPLY:
Pre Requisites for Applying Online :
Candidates are required to apply On-Line through
website www.sebi.gov.in No other means/ mode of
application will be accepted. Candidates need not
submit the system generated print out of the ON-
LINE application to SEBIs office.
Call letters for Online Test will be available on SEBI
website tentatively from 07/09/2013 and candidate has
to download his/her respective call letter.
List of candidates shortlisted for interview will be made
available on SEBI website.
In case a candidate does not have a valid personal
e-mail ID, he/she should create his/her new e-mail ID
before applying on-line. Under no circumstances, a
candidate should share/mention e-mail ID to/ of
any other person.
Applicants are first required to go to SEBIs website
www.sebi.gov.in and open the link Careers.
Thereafter, open the Recruitment Notification entitled
SEBI RECRUITMENT EXERCISE-2013.
Candidates will have to enter their basic details and
upload the photograph and signature in the ON-LINE
application form as per the specifications given in the
Application Form.
The name of the candidate and other details should
be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the
certificates/ mark-sheets. Any change/ alteration found
may disqualify the candidature.
Payment of application fee/ intimation charges has to
be done after successful registration of the application
else application will be treated as cancelled.
MODE OF PAYMENT:
Candidates have the option of making the payment of

Candidates should carefully fill in the details in the On-

and click on the SUBMIT button at the end of the On-
Line Application format. Before pressing the SUBMIT
button, candidates are advised to verify every field filled

her father/husband etc. should be spelt correctly in the
application as it appears in the certificates / mark
sheets. Any change/alteration found may disqualify the
candidature.
The application form is integrated with the payment
gateway and the payment process can be completed
by following the instructions.
The payment can be made by using only Master/ Visa
Debit or Credit cards or Internet Banking by providing
information as asked on the screen.
In case candidates wish to pay fees/ intimation charges
through the online payment gateway after the upload
of photograph and signature an additional page of the
application form is displayed wherein candidates may

COMPENSATION PACKAGE: During the training period
of one year, Executive Trainees will draw Basic Pay of R
20600/- and IDA, along with allowances up to 47% of
Basic Pay under cafeteria approach. They will also be
entitled for other perquisites and benefits such as
Performance Related Pay, Foreign Compensatory
Allowance, Liveries, Shift Allowance, HRA/ Company
leased Accommodation, Medical benefits, etc., as per
extant company rules. On successful completion of
Training period they will be placed in the regular Pay Scale
of R. 24900-50500/- at E2A level and shall be on probation
for a period of one year.
SELECTION PROCESS : Eligible candidates would be
required to undergo an All India written test. Candidates
will be shortlisted for Group Discussion and Personnel
Interview based on the performance in written test.
Test Centers: The written test will be held in the following
centers: Shimla, Dehradun, New Delhi and Patna.
Candidates have to choose any two cities as preference
-1 and preference-2 as Test Center and no change in
any circumstance will be considered subsequently.
However, SJVN reserves the right to add/delete any
Center and allocate any Center to the candidates.
Written Test: The test will be in two parts, Part-I will
consist of 120 multiple-choice questions of the relevant
discipline and Part-II will consist of 30 multiple-choice
questions on Executive Aptitude. The eligible candidates
will be informed separately about the date and venue of

Group Discussion & Personal Interview: Based on
the merit and requirement, the candidates qualifying the
written test will be informed separately and be required
to undergo Group Discussion and Personal Interview
before the Companys Central Selection Board. Please

PLACEMENT : The selected Trainees shall undergo one
year training at various places. The final place of posting
will be allocated after successful completion of training.

Relaxations and concessions for SC/ST/Physically
Challenged :
i. Upper age relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST as

SERVICE AGREEMENT BOND : The selected
candidates who belong to General and OBC category
will be required to execute a service agreement bond of
R. 2, 50,000/- to successfully complete the prescribed
training and thereafter serve the company for at least 3
years. This amount is R. 1,50,000/- for SC/ST category
and Physically Challenged candidates.
GENERAL CONDITIONS :

The admission at all the stages of the Written Test/
Interview will be purely provisional subject to satisfying
the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issue of Admit
Card /Interview Call Letter to the candidate will not imply
that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by SJVN.
SJVN will take up verification of eligibility conditions with
reference to original documents at the time of Personal
Interview.

Indian University/Institute recognized by UGC/AICTE/
appropriate statutory authority and only those candidates

Internal candidates having degree/diploma through
correspondence/part time course from approved /
recognized institutes will be eligible to apply as per
rules.
For internal candidates AMIE in relevant Engineering
discipline will be considered as a recognized qualification.
For Architect discipline, AMIE/Associate Membership of
Indian Institute of Architects (by examination) will also be
considered. In Non Technical Disciplines, courses

However in respect of IGNOU courses duration of the
course must match with the duration of qualification

HOW TO APPLY : Eligible and interested candidates

Before registering their applications on the website the
candidates should possess the following:
Valid e-mail ID and mobile number, which should remain
valid for atleast one year.
Personal details and educational qualification details.
Candidates should have scanned copy of latest passport
size photograph as well as photograph of signatures in
digital format (.jpg or .jpeg file only, less than 500 KB
size) for uploading with the application form.
All SC/ST/ PWD candidate need to upload their caste/
disability certificates also in jpeg or jpg formats of not
more than 500 KB each.
After applying online, candidate is required to download
the registration slip and pay-in -slip generated by the system
with unique registration number. Candidates are required
to keep the printout of the Registration Slip which will be
required at the time of written test and interview along with
the proof of having deposited the application fee.
General and OBC category candidates are required to
pay a non-refundable application fee of R 300/-. The Pay-

MODE OF PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEE : There
will be two payment options, online (Payment Gateway)
or Offline (Bank Challan/ Payin-slip). A candidate may
opt for any one of the payment modes and proceed further
accordingly.
PAYMENT THROUGH PAY-IN-SLIP :
State Bank of India has been authorized to collect the
application fee in a specially opened account at New
Shimla Branch, Shimla, on behalf of SJVN. Candidate
has to approach ANY nearby SBI Branch with a printout
of the Pay-in-Slip which will be available once the
candidate completes the registration process. The pay-
in-slip printed from the Portal only should be used for
depositing the fee.
An application fee of Rupees three hundred along with
bank charges of Rupees twenty totaling to Rupees three
hundred twenty only will required to be deposited by the
candidates.
Please note that after generation of Provisional
Registration Slip and SBI Pay-in-slip, the fee can be
deposited from the next day (after 11 a.m.) onwards.
Please ensure that you deposit the Application Fee latest
by 5th September, 2013 till 4:00 PM.
Ensure that the SBI Pay-in-slip is stamped by the SBI
Official and all the requisite details are filled-in by the SBI
official.
After depositing the Application Fee in SBI, you do not
have to send any hard copy of your Application. Nor do

linked to your Application through our software.

Payment of fee/ intimation charges through the offline
mode can be made through the CBS branches of State
Bank of India. Candidates should fill in the details in the

carefully and click on the SUBMIT button at the end of
the On-Line Application format. Before pressing the
SUBMIT button, candidates are advised to verify every
field filled in the application. The name of the candidate

candidature. A Provisional Registration Number and

Fee Payment: Fee payment will be accepted at the
CBS branches of State Bank of India from 2nd working
day after registration and can be made within three

will be used for depositing fee. (For example: If one
has registered on 27.07.2013 then he/she will be able
to deposit the fee from 30.07.2013 to 01.08.2013
considering 28.07.2013 is a non- working day). Once
fee has been paid, the registration process is
completed. Candidate will receive registration
confirmation by SMS/email after two working days from

Definition of Persons With Disabilities

in IBPS exam and have qualified. Eligible candidates as

contain the NON-CREAMY LAYER CLAUSE which
should not be more than one year old.
If a candidate is shortlisted for joining the corporation,
his/her candidature to further reuse of the same score to
apply to any other organization will be nullified irrespective
of the facts, whether he/she joins the orgnisation or not.
Selected candidates shall be willing to serve anywhere
in India.
In case any dispute arises on account of interpretation of
version other than English, English version will prevail
and the version displayed on website shall be final.
Action against candidates found guilty of misconduct:
-Candidates are advised in their own interest that they
