Product data including manufacturer's detailed technical product data and installation instructions for each type of panel boards . Include instructions for handling, storage, installation, dimensions of individual components, profiles, finishing, protection, and maintenance. Samples consisting of sets for each components of panel boards. Shop drawings showing layout and types of Panel boards , including plans, elevations, sections, details of anchorage and attachments to other units of work, and conditions requiring features or other accessories.

QUALITY ASSURANCE Installer Qualifications: Engage an experienced installer who has specialized in installing types of Panel boards similar to those required for this project. Source Quality Control: Obtain Panel boards of each type from a single or source to ensure a match of quality, color, pattern, and manufacturing.

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING Protect panel boards from exposure to moisture in shipment, storage, and handling. Deliver in unopened cartons or bundles and store in a dry place with adequate air circulation. Do not deliver material to building until concrete, plaster, masonry, ceramic tile, and other wet work is complete and cured to a condition of equilibrium and temperature and humidity are maintained at or near occupancy levels.

PROJECT CONDITIONS

A.

Moisture Content: At time of delivery, average moisture content to be 6 to 9 percent, with a maximum of 12 percent for any one piece and not more than 5 percent outside of given average range. Conditioning: Do not install panel boards until spaces are enclosed and at approximate humidity condition planned for occupancy.

WARRANTY

A.

Warranty: Submit a written warranty executed by manufacturer, installer, and contractor, agreeing to repair or replace panel boards that fails in materials or workmanship within the specified warranty period. Failures include, but are not limited to:

Buckling, warping, squeaking, and loosening. Excessive open joints or cracks. Deterioration of finishes beyond normal wear.

Warranty Period: 4 years from date of substantial completion. The warranty shall not deprive the owner of other rights the owner may have under other provisions of the contract documents and will be in addition to and run concurrent with other warranties made by the contractor under requirements of the contract documents.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 A. MANUFACTURERS Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements,and as indicated by the engineer, provide samples to be approved by the engineer . Switchboards to be as manufactured by EMG , ABB , or approved equal PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 A. INSPECTION Examine substrates where Panel boards will be installed and conditions under which work will be performed. Do not proceed with work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in manner acceptable to installer.

PREPARATION Where direct application of panel boards to concrete substrate is indicated, test for dryness before proceeding with installation. Check levelness of concrete substrate to ensure not more than 6-mm deviation in any direction when checked with a 3-m straight edge. Grind down high spots or fill in low spots to correct improper conditions. Apply moisture barrier over concrete substrate or subfloor as recommended by engineer.

General: Comply with Panel boards manufacturer's instructions and recommendations. Pattern: Comply with pattern or direction of pattern for installing Panel boards as indicated in drawings or, if not indicated, as directed by engineer.

C. Technical Specifications : 1. Panel Boards & Switch Boards : a. Provide all light and power panel boards form 3a - as described in the specification and as indicated on the drawings . b. Such work shall include but not be limited to items described in this section of the specification . Implement all work necessary for the satisfactory protection of the systems as would be required in accordance with the applicable regulations . c. All panel boards should have withstand short circuit current in its location however it will not be less than 6 K.A. for 1 second duration or as shown in the project drawings. 2. Equipment For Switch Boards : A. Back-Up Fuses : 1. Back-up fuses shall be used to limit the short circuit current and as shown on the drawings and in switchboard schedules and in general they shall be provided for voltmeters , pilot lamps , contactors , relays , ammeters dimmers , main out-going feeders , motors , equipment to feed a group of miniature circuit breakers (MCB) . . . etc

B. Load-Break Switches (Rotary) : 1. Shall be used to disconnect the power from the circuit breakers , motor starters , contactors , . . . etc . They shall be of the rotary packet switches according to VDE 0660 climatic-proof .

It is permitted to use fused load-break switches instead of items A,B and C above .

E. Air Circuit Breakers : According to the design criteria and if stated in the switchboard schedules or drawings and according to function required , breaking capacity , . . . etc, the selection may be made for protection of motors and lines . 1. 2. Without holding coils . With holding coil and under voltage release .

F. Contactors : For remote control switching , control systems . . . etc 1. Remote control-impulse type control switch , with mechanical hold ( for ON contacts ) and mechanical release ( for OFF ). The mechanical system shall be driven by a magnetic coil . The switch may be switched ON or OFF , if the remote pushbutton connected to the coil and the live is pushed . Each time the pushbutton is pushed it shall operate either ON or OFF . More than one push-button may be used ( in parallel ) . The switch shall be be rated for 16 A , 220V , 50HZ , and may be used for remote switching of lighting load single phase up to 3.3KW , but will not be used for more than 3kw . It may be used also for remote switching 3 phase contactor specified hereinafter . 3-phase contactors for remote control of lighting equipment...etc, with auxiliary contacts when required for remote functions . Contactors for lighting control should be according to LC3 ratings not LC1 .

G. Control Relays : 1. Climate-Proof to VDE 0660 and DIN 46199 for switching control circuits , R.C.operations . Control relays open type to VDE and DIN as above . Miniature power relays for switching single or 3-phase loads according to VDE 0660 .

The starters should be of the type called for in the schedules or in the drawings according to the requirements called for and each shall suit its corresponding motor . All starters should be equipped with thermal overcurrent relays for motor protection . All starters should be equipped with one normally open and one normally closed auxiliary contact in addition to those required to carry on the functions called for . For remote start/stop , automatic starting ( starter initiated from another starter or device ) , manual start ( push-button at MCC or elsewhere ) , lock out , monitoring ( remote pilot ) , interlocking . . . etc . Direct-on line magnetic starters are used only for 10 HP motors or less . Two speed direct-on line magnetic starters shall be two starters as item 4 above but electrically interlocked so that only one starter can be operated at a time according to the controlling devices . Star-Delta starters (reduced voltage starter ) with change over setting as desired , starting from 3 to 10 seconds . All automatic starters controlled by another starter shall have delay starting to avoid inrush current , if the two motors start together . All automatic starters will have on their switchboards a selector switch for automatic/manual (via push-button) & off . Two speed starters will have on their switchboard a selector switch for High , Low speed , Automatic (selection of High or Low speeds by remote devices ) & off .

Time Switches : Miniature self-starting synchronous motor , independent from mains frequency changes , with spring reserve for 12 hours with 24 hour dial & 4 riders , 220V / 50 Hz & rated for 10A .

Single pole MCB for snap-on fittings to IEC 157-1 making and breaking capacity will be 10 kA for 1 sec . duration at 380 Vac , ratings from 10 up to 50 A ( fixed rating ) according to the requirements called for in the drawings . 3-pole MCB as above .

Tumbler Switches : To VDE 0632 for snap-on fittings single or 3 pole on-off switch .

Remote control push-buttons . Signal lamps (pilot) with neon lamp E10 with cap to be provided for every submain or branch panel board to indicate power supply . 3 phase kilowatt-hour meters , for four wire , 3 phase , 380 / 220V and 1 phase for 2 wires , 220V rating as per the drawings . 220/24V transformers power as indicated in the drawings or the switchboard schedules . Moulded Case Circuit-Breakers : 1. Moulded circuit breakers will be selected in conformity with the specifications & as shown on the drawings & according to IEC 947-2 . Circuit breakers will be totally enclosed in a moulded case construction & will be provided a front operated handle mechanism for manual operation of the main contacts , in addition to the automatic operation under over-current conditions . Multipole breakers will have a single handle mechanism for simultaneous operation of all poles . Each pole of the circuit breaker will be a thermal bimetallic inversetime delay over-current element for small overloads and an instantaneous magnetic over-current trip element for operation under short circuit conditions . Circuit-breakers will have quick-made , quick-break switching mechanism with positive trip-free operation so that contacts cannot be held closed against excess current under or automatic operation . Contacts will be of non-welding silver alloy and will be adequately protected with effective arc-quenching devices . The minimum interrupting ratings of the circuit-breaker will be at the terminal in accordance with IEC recommendations , whether so specified in the schedules or not . Frame sizes ( or continuous current ratings ) indicated will be the minimum accepted ratings based on a fully-rated interrupting duty

(non-current limiting ) as shown on the drawings . The trip current rating (amperes) indicates the normal rating at which the thermal overload element operates . 7. When tripped by either the thermal or magnetic trips . The operating mechanism of the circuit-breaker will assume an intermediate position clearly indicated as Tripped between ON and OFF position . None-interchangeable trip breakers will have their covers sealed and breakers with interchangeable trips will have the trip unit sealed to prevent tampering . Circuit-breaker of 250 frame size & larger unless indicated on the drawing , will have adjustable over-current instantaneous trips & be of the inerchangeable trip type . Thermal over-current trip will be ambient-temperature compensating to allow for an ambient temperature higher at the breaker than at the protected circuit or device .Compensation will be applicable between 10 degrees C&50 degrees C . Circuit-breaker will have a number of auxiliary contacts of necessary typed to perform all the control , interlocking and remote indication functions required . Incoming C.B. for any panel should be MCCB type .

Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers : a. Where ever required on drawing provide earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB) according to VDE 0100 55 13 N maximum shock potential of 65V with rate fault current 30 mA for rate current up to 63 A. and 300 mA for higher ratings , and / or according to personals motor protection as indicated on the drawings . For swimming pool lighting & equipment earth leakage sensitivity should be 10 mA . Kitchen distribiution boards to be provided with earth leakage circuit breaker according to item as above , also earth leakage indicators to be provided according to drawings.

Cabling facility from the front . Depth must not exceed 75cm . Cable from above or below . Master switch isolates subsections when door is open . Breaking capacity 50 kA for 1 second duration . Pacco switches on / off position can be locked with a lock . Will have an earth bus-bar .

All incorporated equipment will be as specified in paragraph equipment for secondary switchboards & according to drawings . Each MCC will have enough terminal strips for the connection of the remote control cables .It will be wired to function as described in the above mentioned drawings and/or specifications herein . Every MCC feeding air handling unit or fan will have 1 or more empty compartments , to accommodate actuating or acturated devices for airconditioning controls . All motor starters or circuit breaker will be protected from single phasing ( one phase failure ). All starters & electrical controls for equipment in a particular room or area will be enclosed in a single integrated cabinet located in an easily accessible location , as directed by the engineer .

4. Secondary Power Distribution Boards (S.P.D.B): 1st. Surface or flush mounting type as directed by the engineer , of sheet steel construction with hinged doors (dead front) bus-bars and earth bus-bar , having equipment . Having equipment as mentioned in paragraph Equipment for secondary switchboards & according to switchboard schedule or drawings . All power distribution boards should with-stand short circuit current in its location however it will not be less than 10 kA for 1 second duration or as shown in the project drawings. For interior dry locations , enclosure shall be dust & vermin and rodent proof ( IP 43 ) . S. P. D.B for kitchens , pantries , launduy , . . .shall have protection degree IP 54 .

E. All power distribution boards to be provided with 3 pilot lamps for 3 phase. Measuring instruments to be added if required in drawings.

5. Secondary Lighting Distribution boards : A. B. Same as paragraph above Secondary power distribution boards . Swithcboard incorporated with time switch controlling a contactor for timed lighting ( or via a photo cell ) will be wired : 1. From the terminal strip of the switchboard to one pole of the contactor outgoing side via a 2A Noezed fuse , so that when connected to a pilot lamp on the engineers panel , the operation of the switch can be monitored . From the time switch contact (or photo-cell ) connected to the coil of the contactor to the terminal strip & from the other contact ( of the time switch or photo-cell ) to a 2A Noezed fuse to the terminal strip , so that when the two wires are connected to the over-ride switch in the engineers panel and when the switch is switched On the contactor will be energized even if the time switch is on OFF position .

For the switchboards incorporated with dimmers or bucking transformer two interlocking contactor will be used such that if the normal mains are ON , one contactor will be energized and will connect the emergency lights to the main contactor . When dimming the lights , all the lights ( including the emergency lights ) will be dimmed together , but if the normal supply fails , then the second interlocked contactor will be initiated while the other will be switched OFF & accordingly the emergency lights on full voltage no matter that position the dimmer is ON .If normal mains are ON again , then the two interlocked contactors will return to the first position & the emergency lighting will be again under the control of the dimmer . Wherever cleaning lights switches are shown on the drawings in public areas special contactors will be provided in the corresponding switchboard , so that when the cleaning push-button is pushed once , the contactor will connect the power to all lights including the emergency lights ( not colour or ornamental lighting ) and will over-ride dimmer , time switches , etc . , if any are incorporated .Pushing button again will turn off the cleaning lights . A 220 /24V transformer protected by 2A Neozed fuse will be incorporated to feed the lamp of the illuminated cleaning push-button . This light will be switched ON when the door of the cleaning light switch panel is opened and as described herein after .

Same as above , but for cleaning & stairs & buffet area . In addition to what is mentioned in item E, another contactor will be incorporated to switch ON or OFF the buffet lights in the restaurant . Each switchboard will have adequate size number of terminal strips for the connection of the incoming feeders , outgoing feeders and circuits & remote control wiring . All lighting distribution board should with-stand short circuit current in its location however it will be not less than 10k A for 1 second duration or as indicated in the project drawing and schedules.

Metering Instruments A. GENERALLY : instruments are to be housed in enamelled , square , metal cases for flush installation . scales and markings are to be protected and sealed . Accuracy of instruments is to be within 2% unless otherwise specified

. B. VOLTMETERS : moving iron type , with centre zero adjuster , range 1.25 times nominal system voltage , 90 degree angle , size 760 x 760mm. VOLTMETER SELECTOR SWITCH : 7-position rotary type . AMMETERS : moving iron type , with centre zero adjuster , range 2 times nominal circuit amprage , 90 degree angle, size 760 x 760mm. AMMETER SELECTOR SWITCH : 4- position rotary type . CURRENT TRANSFORMER ( CT ) : indoor dry type , rated secondary current 5 A . Rated primary current , core size and accuracy are to be determined in accordance with nominal current of plant protected , short circuit level and burden . VOLTAGE TRANSFORMER ( VT ) : to be provided where required , complete with primary and secondary fuses and disconnecting device .

Panel board Enclosures : A. TYPE : general purpose type , suitable for relevant ambient conditions , flush or surface mounted as shown on the drawings , comprising box ,Trim or trim and door to approved manufacturer s standards and sizes . CONSTRUCTION : box , trim and doors where required , are to be electro galvanized sheet steel of gauges not less than specified and in accordance with

the standards . welded joints are to be galvanized after manufacture . Gutter spaces are to conform to the standards , but are not to be less than 100 mm on all sides . Enclosure is to have predesigned angles or threaded end studs to support and adjust mounting of interior panelboard assembly . C. TRIMS are to cover and overlap front shield , covering all terminals and bus compartments , to form a dead front panel . Trims are to be fixed to cabinet / box by quarter- turn clamps engaging flange of box ( use of screws engaging holes in flange of box is not acceptable ) . screws where used are to be oval head , countersunk and flush . Trims for flush mounted panelboards are to overlap box and front shields by at least 20 mm . Trims for surface mounted panelboards are to be exactly sized to form flush fit to box . DOORS are to have concealed hinges integral with trim , and flush combination cylinder lock and catch . Doors over 1000 mm high are to have vault - type handle and multiple point latch mechanism . Locks are to be keyed alike . FINISH : inner and outer surfaces of cabinet / boxes , trims , doors etc. are to be cleaned , phosphatized , chrome passivated and treated with final thermosetting epoxy powder modified by polyester resins providing high resistance to mechanical injury , heat , acid and alkali solvents , grease , ageing and corrosion and of standard grey colour to the approval of the Engineer . DIRECTORIES under glassene , or an approved alternative durable arrangement , are to be provided on inside face of doors , or in metal label holders when trim without doors is specified . Directories are to be typed to identify panelboards and clearly indicate circuit number and description of

load G. OUTDOOR ENCLOSURES are to be heavy duty sheet steel cabinets , minimum 1.5 mm thick , fully weatherproofed ( IP 55 ) , without knockouts , but with removable sealed / gasketed bottom gland plates and gasketed doors .

8. Busbars A. TYPE : one piece , 98% pure electrolytic copper , based on maximum total temperature rise of 40 deg . C over an ambient of 50 deg . C at full continuous rating , and maximum current density of 1.25 A / mm 2 . Bolted or clamped contact surfaces are to have maximum current density of 0.25 A / mm2 . Aluminium is not to be used for busbars or panelboard parts . DESIGN : busbars are to be shrouded / insulated and rigidly designed so that branch circuit devices can be removed without disturbing adjacent units or changed without additional machining , drilling or tapping . Busing is to be full size without reduction . Busing and blates are to allow installation of future circuit devices , where indicated on the drawings . RATING : busbar rating is to be at least equal to main - circuit breaker frame size .Where no main circuit breaker is required , busbars are to have main lugs

or disconnect switch , with nominal rating equal to standard circuit breaker frame sizes , and as shown on the drawings . D. SHORT - CIRCUIT DUTY : busbars are to carry maximum short - circuit duty of main protective device , which is to be at least maximum short - circuit at point of application for one second , without showing any signs of degradation

TERMINALS AND CONNECTIONS are to be anti-turn , solderless screw pressure type . screws and bolts used for making copper / copper connections are to be hard copper alloy with lock washers ( riveted bus connections are not acceptable ) . NEUTRAL BAR is to be solid and fully insulated from cabinet or box . one solderless box type set - screw connector is to be provided for neutral wire of each branch circuit and one bolted clamp - type connector or anti-turn lug with set - screw for main incoming neutral wire . Neutral is to be fully sized and rated as for phase busbars . EARTHING BAR is to be copper , brazed to panelboard cabinet , with bolted pressure connector for main conductor and one set - screw - type tunnel terminal for each outgoing conductor , to provide secure and reliable contact with all metal parts and enclosure . Earthing bar is to be half size of the phase bus bars .
