BABY BOTTLE COLLECTION TODAY Today we are collecting the baby bottles which were distributed three weeks ago for Womens Care Center, a local crisis pregnancy center. Please leave your bottles in the baskets at the entrance to church. If you forgot your bottle today, please bring it to the rectory next weekend or during the week. Thank you so much for caring for the littlest ones and their moms and dads!
INCREASE OUR FAITH Todays Gospel passage falls under the category that has come to be known as the hard sayings of Jesus. Hard to understand, hard to apply to life today. The Apostles request, increase our faith, is in response to a previous hard saying about how frequently we are called upon to forgive others. Curiously, Jesus seems rather unforgiving in responding to their request, or in describing the manner in which they are to serve others. Jesus uses exaggerations to wake us up to how God is present in our lives, and how we are urged to live if God is with us. None of us is called upon to uproot trees or cast mountains into the sea. The faith we have is adequate for the task we are called upon to do: spread the gospel by our witness. And living that witness is done not for selfgratification or recognition, but out of the joy of helping the world to hear the Good News. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
SCHOOL SUPPORT COLLECTION Our Second Collection next Sunday will be for the support of our St. Albert the Great School. Your generosity will be appreciated. Thank You.

Looking for a ministry to get involved with in the church here at St. Albert the Great? One that doesnt take a lot of time out of you busy schedule? A ministry that is fun and allows you to meet new people? Baptism Preparation is the ministry for you!
I am currently looking for couples or singles to put together a Baptism Preparation team. This team would help in formulating the Baptism Preparation program. They would also on a rotating basis give presentations to new moms and dads who are preparing to have their child Baptized into the Catholic faith. Depending on the size of the team presentations by the various members would be every other month. The Baptism Preparation classes are held on the last Monday of every month from 7:00 p.m. to about 8:00 p.m. You will be fully trained and observe a class prior to presenting. If you have any questions or if you would like to join the team please contact Deacon Peter Manning, Coordinator of Religious Education here at St. Albert the Great. His direct phone is 708 636-0406. Pray about becoming a part of this beautiful ministry. The Lord maybe calling you!

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Sometimes human relationships go awry, but Christs choice for us is irrevocable. In marriage celebrations, the Church always recalls Gods faithfulness to help prepare married couples for enduring the inevitable rough spots. The Byzantine liturgy does this by adorning the couple with crowns that remind them of the martyrs crown. The couple therefore takes on a vocation of witnessing to the sacredness of life in all of its suffering and joy, and of keeping their eyes fixed on the banquet of heaven. In Eastern theology, people have a liturgical vocation to give God praise, and marriage fits within that plan. It is not so much saying prayers that counts, but becoming prayer. Interestingly, in this liturgy the couple never utters a word other than joining in the communitys chants; there are no marriage vows as such. There is therefore not a hint of our Western Christian sense that marriage is a legal contract. Rather, it is all about living out ones baptismal vocation, embracing the cross, pouring oneself out in love, and opening to the grace of the Holy Spirit.

The Hispanic Heritage Organization and the Chicago Sun Times sponsored an essay contest this September. Our students in grades 6, 7, and 8 wrote and essay entitled Why is education important for the Latino Community in todays economy? The essays were judged on originality, creativity, cultural knowledge, structure and clarity, spelling and grammar. We are pleased to announce the 8th grade winner is from our schoolMayra Vazquez. The scholarship award will be presented on Friday, the 27th of September at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 6pm, at the Opening Ceremony of Hispanic Heritage Month. Congratulations to Mayra and all our students on a job well done! Eleven of our 7th and 8th grade students volunteered to serve at the Catholic Charities dinner at St. Blas Church held on Wednesday, September 25, Those students were: Jaime Brodinski, Jessica Escobedo, Andrew Klamerus, Anna Nawara, Vinnie Nguyen, Stacey Padilla, Elizabeth Dornbos, Melissa Madrangca, Sarah McCauley, Karolina Nowobilski, and Mayra Vazquez. Becoming lifelong stewards of Christ in the way of service to others is an integral component of what we teach our students. The St. Albert the Great community should be proud of our 7th and 8th grade volunteers who participated in the Catholic Charities dinner.
