BYLAWS OF THE LITIGATION SECTION OF THE CONNECTICUT BAR ASSOCIATION

ARTICLE I NAME AND PURPOSE Section 1. Name. Section. Section 2. The purpose of this Section shall be to The name of the Section is Litigation

ARTICLE II MEMBERSHIP AND DUES Section 1. Membership. Any member of the Connecticut

Bar Association may become a member of the Section upon request to the Connecticut Bar Association and upon payment of the dues for the current term.

shall cease to be a member until the current dues have been paid. Any person becoming a new member of the Section after May 1 of

any year but before the annual meeting of the Connecticut Bar Association shall not be obligated to pay dues for the current term.

ARTICLE III ADMINISTRATION Section 1. Chai rson. The chairperson of the Section

shall be appointed, and any vacancy in that office shall be filled for the remaining term, by the President of the Association ln accordance with the applicable procedures of the Association. Section 2. Executive Committee. There shall be an

Executive Committee consisting of the Chairperson and not less then 15 nor more than 50 members of the Section. The Executive

Committee shall be appointed by the President of the Association in accordance with the applicable procedures of the Association. Section 3. Other Officers. Chairperson, and a Secretary/Treasurer. There shall be a Vice Such officers shall be

chosen by and from the Executive Committee at its organization meeting each year following appointment. If any such office shall

Executive Committee shall have general supervision and control of 2

the affairs of the Section subject to the provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Bylaws of this Section. Between meetings of the Section, the

Executive Committee shall have full authority to act for the Section, and shall report on its activities at the next meeting of the Section. The Executive Committee shall also perform the other

duties set forth in these Bylaws and such other duties as may be assigned by the Association. Section 6. Function of Chairperson. The Chairperson

shall preside at all meetings of the Section and of the Executive Committee. The Chairperson shall formulate and present at each

annual meeting of the House of Delegates of the Connecticut Bar Association a report of the work of the Section since the last preceding annual report and shall make such other reports as directed by the President or by the Executive Committee. chairperson shall also perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Committee, and may appoint a member of the Executive Committee to act in his stead in the absence of other officers .. Secretary/Treasurer shall be the custodian of the books and records of the Section, shall cause notices to be issued and shall keep records of the meetings of the Section and of the Executive

The Secretary/Treasurer shall report to the Section at

each regular Section meeting, and from time to time to the Executive Committee, the expenditure of Section funds and the balance of such funds on hand at the administrative office of the Connecticut Bar Association. The Secretary/Treasurer shall also

perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Chairperson or the Executive Committee.

ARTICLE V MEETINGS Section 1. Section Meet

There shall be at least

two regular Section meetings each year.

Special meetings may be

called by the Chairperson, or by five members of the Executive Committee, by written notice, mailed to all Section members at least 10 days before the meeting, setting forth in general terms the purpose or purposes of the meeting. The members of the

Section present shall constitute a quorum, and action may be taken, on behalf of the Section, by the affirmative vote of a majority of those present. ion 2. Executive Committee Meet At its

organization meeting each year following appointment, the Executive Committee shall schedule at least five regular meetings for the coming year. Other meetings may be called by the

Chairperson or by any five members of the Executive Committee. Written notice shall be mailed, or oral notice given, to all Executive Committee members at least five days before any meeting of the Executive Committee, setting forth in general terms the purpose or purposes of the meeting. paid at meetings of the Section or of the Executive Committee and shall deposit such funds with the administrative office of the Association.

ARTICLE VII MISCELLANEOUS Section 1. When Bylaws Effective. These Bylaws shall

become effective upon approval by the Board of Governors. Section 2. Amendment of These Bylaws may be

amended at the meeting of the Section, provided written notice of the meeting and the proposal to amend has been mailed to all Section members at least 10 days before the meeting.
