Bonnet selection Temperature ranges
Type SUB-CFL / USA-Type 859, 973

Description
The bonnet selection enables to adjust the real temperature of the
packing to the requirements. Cooling fin bonnets are mainly used at
high temperatures. A faster temperature reduction is possible with
the enlarged main surface. Four designs are available:
Standard bonnet
Standard cooling fin bonnet CFL-CF
Extended cooling fin bonnet CFL-EF
14 extended bonnet

Features
For 1/4", 1/2", 3/4" and 1 sizes.

Trims
Please use the cooling fins model for cooling fin. For extended
cooling fins, please use the bellows type.

Dimension A

Pressure rates for bonnets out of 316 SST or 1.4571

Packing selection
1. Vertical line of pressure to the packing upwards.
2. Vertical line of medium temperature upwards to the
desired valve bonnet.
3. From the intersection point line 2 with the bonnets
characteristics horizontally.
4. If the intersection point of lines 1 and 3 is inside of the
hetched area, you can use the desired bonnet with the
packing.

Example:
t2 = 160C
p2 = 150 bar

1. Vertical line at 150 bar
2. Vertical line at 160C
3a. Horizontal line at standard bonnet.
If the intersection point of lines is outside of the
hetched area, you cannot use the bonnet with this
packing.
3b. Horizontal line at cooling fin bonnet.
If the intersection point is inside of the hatched area,
bonnet and packing are okay.

Optional packings
If the application will not accept the use of PTFE or if the
temperature pressure limits are above the range of PTFE,
other packings such as Grafoil, graphite, and glass filled PTFE
are available. Its use and function should be discussed with
the factory. Also, other types of bonnets, including bellows
sealed, are available. Consult the factory with complete
application data.

Note
The given figures are applicable to stainless steel only. Carbon
steel standard bonnets should not be used above 180C
(350F) process temperatures.
