Treasure Hunting: One for Self, All for Self

Theme
You will be playing as one of several treasure hunters exploring a labyrinth abundant with hidden traps and treasures. There is one very unique treasure that everyone wants, but only one can have it. You will be trying to obtain this unique treasure along with any other treasures you can get your hands on and escape the labyrinth.

Objective
Obtain the most points by collecting Major and Minor Treasures before the game ends. The game ends when the Major Treasure Token is taken to the 'Start' space by a player.

Components
2 4 Players 4 Player Tokens Red, Green, Yellow, and Orange 20 Board Tiles 15 Minor Treasure Cards 2 Reference Cards 2 Six-Sided Dice 1 Large Treasure Token Large circle on a stand 15 Minor Treasure Token Houses, color is unimportant

Setup
1. Each player picks a Player Token to play as. 2. All players roll their dice to see who will be going first. The player with the highest roll will go first. 1. If there is a tie for first player, then the tied players will re-roll until one of them has the higher roll to become the first player. 3. Player turn rotation goes clockwise. 4. Place the Board Tile marked 'Starting Tile' faced up in the center of the player area. 5. Shuffle the rest of the Board Tiles faced down and place them to the side. 6. Shuffle the Minor Treasure Cards and place them faced down to the side. 7. All Player Tokens start on the space marked 'Start'.

Turn
1. If your token is tipped over at the start of your turn 1. Put the token back up to standing. 2. End your turn. 2. Move your pawn up to 4 spaces. For each space that you move, you must resolve any events listed below, if applicable. Valid Moves You can only move into adjacent spaces. You cannot move diagonally. You can move into the same space as another player. Resolve the following events in the order listed You cannot continue doing actions if you are tipped over at any point due to a trap, in which case you will end your turn. 1. Discover New Tile 1. If you move into a space at the edge of a Board Tile with a valid move out of it, but there is no Board Tile there, then draw a Board Tile and place it adjacent to the Board Tile you are currently on. 1. You may rotate the Board Tile any way you want and place it as long as a side of the tile lines up with the Board Tile you are currently on. Example: P2 is on a tile and can move down, but there is no tile there, yet. P2 can then draw a tile and place it adjacent to the board tile he is on. P1 is blocked from moving right, so he/she cannot draw a board tile to place down.

VALID 2. If the placed tile has a Major/Minor Treasure space on it, then place the corresponding Major/Minor Treasure Token on the space.

Kevin Giang GAT 210 B Project C Final 2. Traps 1. If you move into a trap space: 1. Roll the die. The roll you get indicates which trap is triggered, or if you avoided the trigger. 1. 1 Boulder trap 2. 2 Sleep Trap 3. 3 Trapdoor 4. 4 Fire Trap 5. 5 or 6 No trap is triggered 2. Resolve the trap before moving again. See Traps 2. Trap spaces are always triggered when a pawn enters its space. Example: P1 steps into a trap space and rolls a 2. P1 triggers a sleep trap in another location. P2 steps into the same trap space and will still have to resolve it. P2 rolls a 4 and triggers a Fire Trap right next to them. Both P1 and P2 will then be affected by the fire trap. 3. Attacking Other Players 1. If you move into a space containing other players, you can decide to attack one of them. 1. If you do decide to attack a player, declare who you will be attacking, then: The defending player automatically loses if he is tipped over. If the player is holding the Major Treasure Token, then you can take it for yourself. End your turn. Otherwise: The defending player may decide to bribe you with Minor Treasures so that you cannot attack him. The defending player can offer as many Minor Treasures as he wants, and you can decide to accept the bribe or not. If you do accept the bribe, then take the Minor Treasures and end your turn. If there is no bribe, then both you and the defending player will roll a die. If you roll higher than the defending player, then the defending player will tip his token over to show that he has been hurt. If the defending player is holding the Major Treasure Token and has failed to defend himself, then you can take the Major Treasure Token for yourself. End your turn. 4. Obtaining Treasure 1. If you step into a space with the Major Treasure Token, then take the token. 2. If you move into a space that contains a Minor Treasure Token, then draw a card from the faced-down treasure deck and remove the Minor Treasure Token. See End Game and End Game Scoring. 2. If you made it impossible to ever get into the Board Tile with the Major Treasure Token, then the game ends. See End Game and End Game Scoring. 3. End your turn. 4. The player to your left will go next starting from step 1.

Traps
Boulder [B] 1 The boulder trap releases boulders in all directions orthogonal to itself. Boulders will keep going until it hits a wall. If a boulder reaches the edge of a tile without a wall in its path, then the boulder will disappear. Exception: if the boulder is moving a player with it, then that player draws a tile and places it like he would normally do on his turn. Any players caught by the boulder will be moved with it. If there is a valid move that the player can take while being pushed back by the boulder that is not along the path of the boulder, then the player can choose to move into that space. If the player does not move into a valid space to the side and ends up at a wall along with the boulder, then the player will be knocked out and tips his token over. Example: The boulder trap releases boulders that will go left and down. P1 can sidestep to the right because it is a valid move. P2 cannot escape and is pushed all the way to the wall and will have to tip his pawn over.

Kevin Giang GAT 210 B Project C Final Sleeping Gas [S] 2 All players within 2 spaces of this trap will tip their pawns over. Example: The yellow shaded spaces are affected by the sleep trap. P2 is within the affected space and tips his pawn over. P1 is safe because he is 3 spaces away from the sleep trap.

Trapdoor [T] 3 Any player affected by a Trapdoor will tip their pawn over. In order to stand their pawn back up, they must discard enough Minor Treasure Cards into a discard pile until they have at most 1 Minor Treasure Card on their turn. Fire Trap [F] 4 All players on or adjacent to the fire trap will be burned, tip their token over, and discard 1 Minor Treasure. The fire trap does not go through walls. Example: P1 is burnt, loses a Minor Treasure, and tips his pawn over. P2 is safe because he is behind a wall.

End Game
There are 2 possible ways to end the game: 1. A player with the Major Treasure Token steps into the 'Start' space. 2. There is absolutely no way to get to the Major Treasure space. This can be caused by running out of Board Tiles that can make it possible to enter the Board Tile with the Major Treasure Token. It can also be caused by players closing off all entry points into the Board Tile with the Major Treasure Token with walls. This will end the game even if there are still unclaimed Minor Treasure Tokens in the game.

End Game Scoring

Players add up all their points from the treasure they have collected. Minor Treasures have their point values on the card. The Major Treasure is worth 3 points. The player with the most points wins. If there is a tie between players with one of them having the Large Treasure, then the player holding the Large Treasure wins. If there is a tie between players with none of them holding the Large Treasure, then it is a draw.
