Exercise 1:Reading with Staircase Intonation Read the following with clear intonation where marked. Hello, my name is__________________. I'm taking CommunicationTraining. There's alot to learn, but I hope to make it as enjoyable as possible. I should pick up on the intonationlevel pretty easily, although the only way to get it is to practice all of the time. I use the up and down, or peaks and valleys, intonation more than I used to. I've been paying attention to pitch, too. It's like walking down a staircase. I've been talking to a lot of friends lately, and they tell me that I'm easier to understand. Anyway, I could go on and on, but the important thing is to listen well and sound good. Well, what do you think? Do I?

Exercise 2 Reading with the right word stress There was a time when people really had a way with words. They said and did whatever they could, so that each little thing would be then good and clear, both at home and all over the world. They knew that it was very important to use just a few short words, because most of the long ones where too hard. The only other thing about words is the number of children who care called names, even if they know how to say something right, but cant find s way to use it in a sentence. By the way, many more families have been after their children to talk right. Well, how about yours?
