Summary
A scale to measure attitude of research and extension
personnel towards R-E linkages was especially developed for this
study using the "Likert's Summated Rating" technique. The total
scores of each respondent on the attitude scale were used to
categorize
respondents.

between
independent
variables
and attitude.
The "Multiple
Linear
Regression" was also calculated to find out contribution made by
independent
variables towards the attitude
of research and
extension personnel towards R-E linkages.
Maj ority of extensionists and researchers were found to
have unfavorable
attitude. Additionally, though a number of
variables have shown significant and positive correlation with
attitude
of
respondents,
"significant
partial
regression
coefficients" reveals that extensionists' "attitude" was influenced
by only two variables,
namely;
"job satisfaction"
and
"satisfaction with resources and facilities". The same holds true
for the "whole sample". None of the independent variables made a
significant contribution towards researchers'
"Attitude".
The multiple regression analysis carried out for the data
indicates that, out of the Fourteen variables, only two variables
have shown positive and significant influence on the attitude of
'all respondents'
or pooled sample, namely; "job satisfaction" and
"satisfaction with resources and facilities". Same two variables
have made positive and significant
contribution
towards
"attitude"
of
extensionists'
sub-group.
Accordingly,
characteristics of respondents influencing their attitude need to be
seriously considered by respective concerned authorities with
which respondents are affiliated.
