Welcome To Worship

First Baptist Church | Sunday, July 12, 2009

“Worship is first and foremost for His benefit, not ours, though it is marvelous to discover that in giving Him pleasure, we
ourselves enter into what can become our richest and most wholesome experience in life.”

-Graham Kendrick

Call to Worship All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name

Verse One Verse Three

All hail the power of Jesus' name! Let every kindred, every tribe
Let angels prostrate fall; On this terrestrial ball,
Bring forth the royal diadem, To him all majesty ascribe,
And crown him Lord of all. And crown him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem, To him all majesty ascribe,
And crown him Lord of all. And crown him Lord of all.

Verse Two Verse Four

Ye chosen seed of Israel's race, O that with yonder sacred throng
Ye ransomed from the fall, We at his feet may fall!
Hail him who saves you by his grace, We'll join the everlasting song,
And crown him Lord of all. And crown him Lord of all.
Hail him who saves you by his grace, We'll join the everlasting song,
And crown him Lord of all. And crown him Lord of all.

Song of Hope The Power of the Cross

Verse One Verse Three

Oh, to see the dawn Now the daylight flees;
Of the darkest day: Now the ground beneath
Christ on the road to Calvary. Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Tried by sinful men, Curtain torn in two,
Torn and beaten, then Dead are raised to life;
Nailed to a cross of wood. "Finished!" the vict'ry cry.
This, the pow'r of the cross: This, the pow'r of the cross:
Christ became sin for us; Christ became sin for us;
Took the blame, bore the wrath— Took the blame, bore the wrath—
We stand forgiven at the cross. We stand forgiven at the cross.

Verse Two Verse Four

Oh, to see the pain Oh, to see my name
Written on Your face, Written in the wounds,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin. For through Your suffering I am free.
Ev'ry bitter thought, Death is crushed to death;
Ev'ry evil deed Life is mine to live,
Crowning Your bloodstained brow. Won through Your selfless love.
This, the pow'r of the cross: This, the pow'r of the cross:
Christ became sin for us; Son of God—slain for us.
Took the blame, bore the wrath— What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross. We stand forgiven at the cross.

Song of Action Grace Alone

Verse One Verse Two

Every promise we can make Every soul we long to reach
Every prayer and step of faith Every heart we hope to teach
Every difference we can make Everywhere we share His peace
Is only by His grace. Is only by His grace.
Every mountain we will climb Every loving word we say
Every ray of hope we shine Every tear we wipe away
Every blessing left behind Every sorrow turned to praise
Is only by His grace Is only by His grace.

Refrain
Grace alone which God supplies
Strength unknown He will provide
Christ in us, our cornerstone
We will go forth in grace alone.

HOPE

Time of Commitment There’s Something About That Name

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

There's just something about that name
Master, Savior, Jesus
Like the fragrance after the rain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Let all heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away
But there's something about that name.

How to Join the First Baptist Family
By Baptism—If one professes faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, the church may receive that person as a candidate for
church membership through believer’s baptism.! If you are a member of another denomination and have never been
baptized, or have been baptized in a mode other than immersion, the church may receive you for membership through
baptism.
By Transfer of Membership—The church may receive a person as a member upon transfer of membership from a
Baptist church of like belief.! We will be happy to arrange for this transfer.
By Statement—If you are a member of another denomination, membership does not transfer from one denomination
