The Teaching Process (should included planned, open-ended questions to monitor student learning, and how the lesson will be modeled) 1. Let the students know we will be completing a Venn diagram for the two books after we read. Let them know to look out for similarities and differences between the books. 2. Reread What About Me? so the students can remember what it is about. 3. Read Lon Po Po to the students at the carpet. 4. Have the students go back to their seats and write down one similarity and one different they found between the two stories. 5. Make a Venn diagram on the Smartboard and have students share what they found to be similar and different.

Reflection on Teaching

To give the students a heads up of what they should be looking for.

All of the students knew what a Venn diagram was luckily. They also knew about similarities and differences.

Just in case the students had forgotten the story since last reading it. To introduce another Ed Young book to the students. Quiet work so they can use their own skills to find similarities and differences on their own. Lets students work toward something bigger and share their ideas with the class.

The students got a little fidgety by the end of the story because they had already heard it once. The students were very engaged by the story and sat nicely through the whole thing. Some students got frustrated because they could not spell correctly. Some got frustrated because they couldnt think of anything to put. This part went surprisingly well. Most of the students were engaged and shared multiple things for our Venn diagram. They really did understand similarities
