Resource Section Editor and Cross-System Resources Panels and reports used by an Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom program can now reside in a different system from that of the program. This enables re-use of these entities without copying. In addition, the resource section editor has been enhanced to support COPY, MOVE, REPEAT and other line commands. Unmodeled Dataview Version and Status Multiple versions of unmodeled dataviews (Sequential or VSAM) can now be maintained. The TEST/PROD/HIST status sequence used is the same that is used for other Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom-maintained entities. Command Issuing from Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom Program A mechanism is provided that lets Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom applications issue certain Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom commands. This allows Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom to act as a scripting language to control its own processing, such as transferring applications between systems. Member Accessing from Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom Program An Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom program can now read or write an Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom member sequentially, allowing, for example, a JCL stream to be sequentially updated without the need to read it all into local storage. Asynchronous Run Support The INITIATE statement is similar to the CALL statement except that it causes the object program to be run in the background. The invoking program is not involved further, and can continue processing. Load Module Table Enhancement The table that maps program and panel names to load module names can be customized and pre-assembled to tailor it to individual CICS regions. This can also provides a significant benefit in start-up performance. 31-Digit Numeric Support Numeric fields can now contain 31 digits. Arithmetic operations in Advantage CAIdeal for CA-Datacom have always used 31-digit precision internally, but it previously was not available for result storage. 31-Bit Operating Enhancement Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom program load modules can now be linked RMODE (ANY) and loaded above the line in CICS/ESA systems. The same applies to the static I/O modules for DB2 support. Element Length on ADDIT In addition to checks on data length when reading from Advantage CA-Datacom/DB Database, the data length is now provided to the database when updating or inserting, allowing it to be checked by the database.

SQL Extensions OPTIMIZE FOR n ROWS The FOR FIRST... construct in Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom now automatically generates an OPTIMIZE clause appropriate to the value or field specified. FOR FETCH ONLY This clause is added whenever Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom scope analysis detects that no updates are being made to the SQL data retrieved. DECLARE CURSOR WITH HOLD ESCAPE Character CONCAT Keyword These options are now supported in embedded SQL. Initial values are supported for the Advantage CA-Datacom Database SQL Option dataviews.
CBS-Access Enhancements Null(s) DATE, TIME, TIMESTAMP $ERROR-CONSTRAINT-NAME The above SQL-defined column types and attributes are supported when the table or view is accessed using CBS.
Advantage CA-Datacom/DB Database Release 9.0 Support All SQL enhancements made in Advantage CA-Datacom/DB Database Release 9.0 are now exploited in Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom, both as embedded SQL and generated by FOR constructs. Web Interface Using the CICS Web Interface (CWI), Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom can now handle HTTP requests and respond with HTML, XML or any other content type. Sample code is provided to illustrate different uses for this interface. DB2 Support See SQL extensions above. In addition, RCT handling for CICS/DB2 is enhanced so that DB2 upgrades can be handled by a simple site assembly of an offset table using Advantage CA-Ideal for CA-Datacom and DB2 macros. DB2 Package Support Packages are now fully supported. There are new editors and commands to handle creation, generation and maintenance processes for incorporated packages.
