RCIA: Please pray for those on the journey and on the team, as well as those who are inquiring. If you, or someone you know, have an interest in joining the Catholic Church, contact Marilena Wertz at 477-8534 or mlwertz@wertz.us. Why Catholic? The Why Catholic? process invites us to rethink our priorities so that we can place a greater emphasis on learning about our faith and improving our relationship with God and others. Small groups are in week 2 of six sessions. Contact Deacon Carl, carlfahringer@bellsouth.net, for more information on this program or other adult faith formation. We thank those of you who donated diapers for the Spencer County Community Baby Shower, as well as Mary Anne Cecil, who coordinated our effort and represented our parish at the event. Its another way to Respect Life. K of C Open Meeting: All are invited to attend their Open Meeting on October 16th at 7:30PM to hear guest speaker Martine Bacci Siegel RN MSN CNS, who serves as the Director of Counseling Services and Victim Assistance Coordinator for the Archdiocese of Louisville. Ms. Siegel worked in Psychiatry at Norton Hospital for 35 years and in various roles with the Archdiocese for over 14 years. She will be speaking on depression and bi-polarism and how it affects the family and friends of the victims of this disease. With education about mental illness, maybe these patients wont suffer in silence and solitude. Please plan to attend. A light meal and refreshments will be served. Eagle Scout Project: Thanks to John Paul Thomas, a member of Boy Scout Troop #176, his family, friends and 16 other Scouts who reset the brick walkway to the reflection bench and built the pergola adjacent to the Marian shrine at the Parish Office Entrance. He plans to plant some shrubs in that area, too, to improve the landscaping. Many thanks! Immigration Reform: In a message, released in advance of the January 19, 2014, World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Pope Francis called for a change in attitude toward migrants and refugees around the world, moving away from attitudes of defensiveness and fear, indifference and fear, typical of a throwaway culture. Migrants and refugees are not pawns on the chessboard of humanity, the Holy Father wrote. (Source: USCCB) Join the U.S. Catholic bishops in advancing immigration reform by communicating with Kentucky's members of Congress, especially in the House, and urge them to fix the broken system in the U.S. www.ccky.org and www.justiceforimmigrants.org.
