ELDON Fifth ranked WIlton Beaver football team had no problem with Cardinal of Eldon Friday night, winning a 52-0 football game on the road. The Beavers used a businesslike effort after traveling just over two hours to get to the district football game. The victory puts WIltons record at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in class 1A district 6. Cardinal fell to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in district 6. Wilton will host top-ranked and defending state champ Iowa City Regina (6-0, 3-0) next week at home in a big district and statewide showdown. After playing competitive football in their first two weeks, Cardinal had been outscored 146 to 24 in the three games leading up to their game with the Beavers including a 51-0 drubbing at the hands of Iowa City Regina last week. Wilton got the football first and needed just under two minutes to get the games first points. A Koy Snider 17-yard touchdown catch from Tyler Hetzler gave Wilton the first of four first-quarter touchdowns with 10:05 left in the first quarter. Hetzler was involved in the next three scores, a 36-yard run and touchdown passes to Koy Snider and Kaleb Schmidt to give Wilton a 26-0 lead after one quarter.

Wildcat Ryan Parmely rushed for 214 yards on 22 carries while Ben Dzaboff passed for 105 yards on 7-of-13 pass attempts. Zach Salow was the top Maquoketa Valley receiver with 4 receptions for 79 yards. Maquoketa Valley improves to 6-0 and 3-0 in district 5. The Wildcats play at Bellevue this Friday before ending the regular season with a home game with Tipton on October 18 and a road game at North Cedar October 25. Durant falls to 0-6 and 0-4 in district 5. The Wildcats return home this Friday for their homecoming game with Alburnett. Weve got our Homecoming game coming up this Friday against Alburnett and our team is going to work hard this week to prepare for the game and come out with a win, said White.
