Introduction - What is model United Nations?

Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. The participants role-play as diplomats representing a country or NGO in a simulated session of a committee of the United Nations, such as the Security Council or the General Assembly. Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems. More recently, simulation of other deliberative bodies, such as the United Nations Security Council, has been included in Model United Nations, even if they are completely unrelated to the UN or international affairs as a whole. In general, the participants that the executive panel considers to be most contributing are given awards, such as 'Best Delegate award'. A school may send as many delegates as it wants , but the countries are given on the basis of the number of delegates. For information on which country is available in a given number of delegates please refer to the country matrix.

Benefits

These are the benets of attending any IMUNA (International Model United Nations) Conference in their own words. Since our founding nearly forty years ago, the International Model United Nations Association (IMUNA) has aspired to equip young minds with critical thinking, public speaking, research, writing, and problem-solving skills through our engaging simulation environment. Every year, more than 4,000 high school students attend at least one of IMUNA's conferences. They spend months preparing, researching, and writing from the perspective of a different nation than their own. They travel from one of more than 40 countries to put their preparation to work alongside peers from around the world. They return to school with a new perspective on global citizenship, enhanced debate and negotiation skills, and a voracious appetite for new learning. IMUNA constantly works to improve our offerings, engage students, reach a broader and deeper community of educators, and provide thought leadership into the future of global issues education. Each one of our staff and Board members is devoted to building on the legacy of our organization, combining boundless energy and optimism with substantive rigor. I invite you to explore the opportunities available through our organization, from attending a conference, to running one of the many classroom-based simulations we've created, to serving as a staff member or volunteer. Please feel free to reach out to me with your questions, ideas and comments. I love to hear from educators who want to know more about our programming, alumni from years past, and others working to advance the cause of global issues education through simulation.

Moreover any conference of such level is bound to increase your S.A.T score , and anywhere you apply this is going to create a very positive impact for the rest of your life , and the conversation skills which you will develop are obviously going to help you in every interview.
