LiPo Battery Warnings and Usage Guidelines

IMPORTANTNOTE:LithiumPolymer(LiPo)batteriesaresignificantlymorevolatilethanthe alkaline,NiCdandNiMHbatteriesalsousedinRCapplications.Allinstructionsand warningsmustbefollowedexactlytopreventpropertydamageand/orpersonalinjuryas mishandlingofLiPobatteriescanresultinfire. Byhandling,chargingorusingtheincludedLiPobatteryyouassumeallrisksassociated withLiPobatteries.Ifyoudonotagreewiththeseconditions,pleasereturnyourcomplete productinnew,unusedconditiontotheplaceofpurchaseimmediately. Andalthoughthe1000mAh2Cell/2S7.4V20CLiPoBattery(AZSB10002S20T)includedwith theGamma370RTFversionisintendedtobechargedsafelyusingtheincluded205C2 Cell/2S7.4VLiPo,0.5ADCBalancingCharger(AZSC205C),youmustreadthefollowing safetyinstructionsandwarningsbeforehandling,chargingorusingtheLiPobattery. YoumustchargetheLiPobatteryinasafeareaawayfromflammablematerials. NeverchargetheLiPobatteryunattendedatanytime.Whenchargingthebattery youshouldalwaysremaininconstantobservationtomonitorthechargingprocess andreactimmediatelytoanypotentialproblemsthatmayoccur. Afterflying/dischargingthebatteryyoumustallowittocooltoambient/room temperaturebeforerecharging.Also,itisNOTnecessaryorrecommendedto dischargethebatterycompletelybeforecharging(LiPobatterieshavenomemory anditssafetochargepartiallydischargedbatterieswhenusinganappropriate chargerandsettings). Tochargethebatteryyoumustuseonlytheincluded205C2Cell/2S7.4VLiPo,0.5A DCBalancingCharger(AZSC205C)orasuitablycompatibleLiPobatterycharger. Failuretodosomayresultinafirecausingpropertydamageand/orpersonalinjury. DONOTuseaNiCdorNiMHcharger. Ifatanytimeduringthechargeordischargeprocessthebatterybeginstoballoonor swell,discontinuechargingordischargingimmediately.Quicklyandsafely disconnectthebatterythenplaceitinasafe,openareaawayfromflammable materialstoobserveitforatleast15minutes.Continuingtochargeordischargea batterythathasbeguntoballoonorswellcanresultinafire.Abatterythathas balloonedorswollenevenasmallamountmustberemovedfromservice completely. Storethebatterypartiallycharged(approximately50%charged/3.85Vpercell),at roomtemperature(approximately6877Fahrenheit[F])andinadryareaforbest results.

Whentransportingortemporarilystoringthebattery,thetemperaturerangeshould befromapproximately40100F.Donotstorethebatteryormodelinahotgarage, carordirectsunlightwheneverpossible.Ifstoredinahotgarageorcarthebattery canbedamagedorevencatchfire. DonotoverdischargetheLiPoflightbattery.DischargingtheLiPoflightbatterytoa voltagethatistoolowcancausedamagetothebatteryresultinginreducedpower, flightdurationorfailureofthebatteryentirely. LiPocellsshouldnotbedischargedtobelow3.0Veachunderload.Inthecaseofthe 2Cell/2S7.4VLiPobatteryusedtopowertheGamma370youwillnotwanttoallow thebatterytofallbelow6.0Vduringflight. Theincluded20AmpBrushedMotorESC(AZS1210)featuresasoftlowvoltage cutoff(LVC)thatsmoothlyreducespowertothemotor(regardlessofthepower levelyouhavesetwiththelefthand/throttlestick)toletyouknowthevoltageof thebatteryisclosetothe6.0Vminimum.However,evenbeforethisreductionin power,ifyoufindthatmorethanthetypicalamountofthrottle/powerisrequired tocruiseorclimbyoushouldlandthemodelanddisconnectthebatteryimmediately topreventoverdischarge. AndwhileitispossibletocontinueflyingthemodelafterthesoftLVCoccurs,thisis NOTrecommended.Continueddischargingcanresultinreachingthe5.0VhardLVC whichmaycausepermanentdamagetotheLiPobatteryresultinginreducedpower andflightdurationduringsubsequentfights(orfailureofthebatteryentirelywhich isnotcoveredunderwarranty). Also,itisnotrecommendedthatyouflytothesoftLVCeverytimeyoufly.Instead youshouldbeawareofthepowerlevelofthebattery/airplanethroughoutthe flight,andifatanytimetheairplanebeginstorequiremorethrottle/powerthan typicaltomaintaincruiseorclimbyoushouldlandtheairplaneanddisconnectthe LiPobatteryimmediately.ConstantlydischargingthebatterytothesoftLVCcanstill causepermanentdamagetothebatterysoitsbesttouseatimerorstopwatchto timethedurationofyourflightsandtostopflyingatareasonabletimebeforethe softLVCisreached. FortheGamma370RTFversionyoumustchargetheincluded1000mAh2Cell/2S7.4V20C LiPoBattery(AZSB10002S20T)usingonlytheincluded205C2Cell/2S7.4VLiPo,0.5ADC BalancingCharger(AZSC205C)orasuitablycompatibleLiPobatterycharger.Chargingthe LiPobatteryusinganonLiPobatterycompatiblecharger(suchasaNiCdorNiMHbattery charger),orevenadifferentLiPobatterychargerwiththeincorrectsettings,mayresultin damagetothebatteryorevenfireresultinginpropertydamageand/orpersonalinjury.

PLACETHE205CCHARGERONAFLAT,SMOOTHANDHEATRESISTANTSURFACE. Itsimportantthatairisabletocirculatethroughthechargerduringthecharging processinordertokeepitfromoverheating.Itsespeciallyimportantthatthevent openingsonthebottomandsidesofthechargerarenotblocked.DONOTplacethe chargeroncarpetedorothersimilarsurfacesthatmayblocktheventopenings. Also,DONOTplacethechargerindirectsunlightbefore,duringorafteruse.

Connectthewhite3pinconnectorfrombattery(alsotypicallyreferredtoasthe balanceconnector)tothematingconnectoronthecharger.YOUMUSTBECAREFUL TOENSUREPROPERPOLARITYBEFOREMAKINGTHECONNECTION.Thisis accomplishedbyensuringtheblackcolornegative/groundwireleadisorientedso itstowardtherighthandsideofthechargerwhenlookingatthechargerfrom above.Andwhilethewhiteconnectorsarekeyedtominimizetheriskofareverse polarityconnection,ifyouforcethemitispossibletomakeconnectionwiththe incorrectpolaritypotentiallycausingdamagetothebatteryand/orcharger.Whenthe connectorsareproperlyalignedforcorrectpolarity,connectingthemshouldrequire onlyamoderateamountofpressuretoachievetheclickthatindicatesasecure connection.

Whenthebatteryisconnectedtothechargersecurelyandwiththeproperpolarity boththeredcolorandgreencolorLEDindicatorswillglow.Thebatterywillbe charginganytimethegreenLEDindicatorisglowing. Itwilltakeapproximately1.52.5hourstofullychargeamostlyorfullydischarged (notoverdischarged)battery(NOTE:Seethefollowinginformationinthissectionfor moredetailsregardingoptionalfastchargingthatcanreducechargetimestoaslittle as3045minutes).AndwhenthebatteryisfullychargedthegreenLEDindicatorwill stopglowingentirely.WhenthegreenLEDindicatorisnolongerglowingyoucan disconnectthebatteryfromthechargerasitisnowfullychargedandreadyforuse. NOTE:TheLiPobatteryincludedwithyournewmodelwillarrivepartiallycharged.For thisreasontheinitialchargemayonlytakeapproximately1hour.

IMPORTANTNOTE:DONOTSTORETHELIPOFLIGHTBATTERYFULLYCHARGED. ForimprovedsafetyandlongevityoftheLiPobatteryitsbesttostoreitonlypartially chargedforanylengthoftime.StoringtheLiPobatteryatapproximately50%charged (whichisapproximately3.85Vpercell)istypicallybest,howeveritwilltakesome carefulmanagementofthechargetimeandtheuseofavoltmetertoachievethis voltage. Ifyouhavetheequipmentandskillstoachievethe50%chargelevelforstorageitis recommended.Ifnot,simplybesuretonotstorethebatteryfullychargedwhenever possible.Infact,aslongasthebatterywillbestoredatapproximatelyroom temperatureandfornomorethanafewweeksbeforethenextuse,itmaybebestto storethebatteryinthedischargedstateafterthelastflight(aslongasthebatterywas notoverdischargedonthelastflight). OptionalFastCharging Theincluded1000mAh2Cell/2S7.4V20CLiPoBattery(AZSB10002S20T)canbefast chargedatratesupto2C(2xtheCapacityofthebattery;2x1000mAh=2000mAh= 2.0A)whenusingapprovedandcompatibleLiPobatterychargers.Itwilltake approximately3045minutestofullychargeamostlyorfullydischarged(notover discharged)batterywhenchargingat2C. ForfastchargingwerecommendusingtheRadientPrimalorAscendchargers.Both chargersarecapableofchargingtheincludedLiPobatteryatratesupto2C/2.0Aand canalsobeusedtochargeotherhigherandlowercapacityLiPo,NiCdandNiMH batteries.BothchargersalsoincludeconnectorscompatiblewiththeTamiyastyle andJSTXH(balance)connectorsinstalledontheincludedLiPobatteryandcanbe poweredfroma100240VACoutlet.TheAscendchargercanalsobepoweredfroma 1215VDCpowersource,suchasa12Vcarbattery,forquickandconvenient chargingatthefieldorbeyond.YoucanfindtheRadientPrimalandAscendchargers atHobbyTownUSAstoresandwww.HobbyTown.com.

Assembling the Wing Parts/ToolsRequired: Leftandrightwingpanels Thintwosidedtape(optional) Plasticwingcover 515minuteepoxy(optional) Toassemblethewingstartbyslidingtheplywoodjoinerthatextendsoutoftherightwing panelintothecorrespondingslotintheleftwingpanel.Carefullyslidethepanelstogether untiltheymeet. OPTIONAL:Foramoresecurewingjointyoucanusethintwosidedtapeor515minute epoxybetweenthepanels.Thickcyanoacrylate(CA)gluemayalsobeusedkeepinginmind thattheuseofglue/epoxywillresultinamorepermanentwingjoint.Also,itsimportantto ensurethatthetopandbottomsidesofthewingpanelsarealignedproperly,especiallynear theleading(front)andtrailing(rear)edges,whenjoiningthepanelswithtapeorglue/epoxy. NOTE:Duetoslightvariationsintheproductionofrelatedpartsitspossiblethattheleading (front)andtrailing(rear)edgesofbothwingpanelswillnotalignexactlywhenthepanelsare slidtogether.ThisOKandshouldhavenodiscernibleimpactontheflight performance/characteristicsofthemodel.

Aftersliding/joiningthetwowingpanelstogetherlocatetheplasticwingcover.Thiscover helpsprotectthetopofthewingfromtherubberbandsusedtoattachittothefuselage whilealsoprovidingadditionalsupportforthewingjoint. Beforeremovingthebackingmaterialonthetapeusedtosecurethecovertothewingcheck thefitofthecoveronthewing.Lineupthetrailing(rear)edgeofthecoverwiththetrailing edgeofthewingwhilealsocenteringthecoveroverthejointbetweenthewingpanels

Afterconfirmingthecoverfitscorrectlyremovethebackingmaterialtoexposethetape. Then,verycarefullylineupthetrailingedgeofthecoverwiththetrailingedgeofthewing andcenterthecoverbeforepressingitdownagainstthewingpanels.Startfromthetrailing edgeofthewingandslowlypressthecoverdownwithlightpressuresoitfitsagainstthe wingascloselyaspossibleuntilyoureachtheleading(front)edge.Applyonlylightpressure soyoucanpossiblyremoveandreinstallthecoverifthefit/alignmentisnotcorrect. Then,afterconfirmingthefitandalignmentaregood,applymorepressuretobettersecure thecovertothewing.

NOTE:Insomecasesitmaynotbepossibleforalledgesofthecovertofitflushagainstthe surfaceofthewing.Thisisnottypicallyaproblemastherubberbandsusedtoattachthe wingtothefuselagewillhelpholdtheedgesofthecoverinplace.However,dependingon thefitofsomepartsitmaybehelpfultoapplytransparentpackingtapeand/or cyanoacrylate(CA)glue(werecommendMedium/GapFillingorThickviscosity)tobetter securetheedges.However,keepinmindthattheuseofgluewillresultinamore permanentinstallationofthewingcover. Thewingisnowassembledandreadytoattachtothefuselageinalaterstep.

Installing the Horizontal and Vertical Tails Parts/ToolsRequired: 2x8mmbutton(small)headscrew;2pcs Fuselage Horizontalandverticaltails 2x8mmpan(large)headscrew;1pc Plastictailmount Phillipsscrewdriver Toinstallthehorizontalandverticaltailsstartbyaligningthepostsextendingfromthe bottomoftheverticaltailwiththesmallholeslocatedonthecenterlineofthehorizontaltail. Carefullyslidethepoststhroughtheholeswithoutdamagingthefoamsothehorizontaland verticaltailsarepressfittogether.

BeforeinstallingthebatteryintheairplaneyoullneedtoconnectittotheESC(Electronic SpeedControl).YOUMUSTBECAREFULTOENSUREPROPERPOLARITYBEFORE CONNECTINGTHEBATTERYTOTHEESC.Byorienting/aligningthewireleadsofthebattery andESCsotheyreredtoredandblacktoblackyoullbeabletomaketheconnection withcorrectpolarity. AftertheLiPobatteryisconnectedtotheESCyoucaninsertitintothebatterycompartment thensecureitwiththehookandloopmaterial.Carefullytuckthewireleadsandconnectors insidethecompartmentensuringtheydonotdamagethebatteryorfoamairframewhile alsoallowingthehatchcovertobeinstalledoverthecompartmentopening.Whenthehatch coverisproperlyalignedandinstalledrotatethetwolatchesuntiltheysecurethecoverin place.

ToremovetheLiPoflightbatteryfirstremovethehatchcoverandpullthewireleadsand connectorsoutofthebatterycompartment.Then,carefullypullthebatteryoutofthe compartmentbyseparatingthehookandloopmaterialmountedinsidethefuselageandon thebattery.TodisconnectthebatteryfromtheESCgentlypressdownonthebackofthe latchmoldedintothemaleconnectorfromtheESCsoitdisengagesthefemaleconnector fromthebatteryandthenpulltheconnectorsapart.DONOTpoweroffthetransmitteruntil theLiPoflightbatteryisremovedfromtheairplaneanddisconnectedfromtheESC. REMEMBER:ThetransmitterisalwaysONFIRSTandalwaysOFFLAST! Centering the Control Surfaces WiththetransmitterturnedonandtheLiPoflightbatteryconnectedtotheESC(and installedinthebatterycompartment)itsnowpossibletoconnectthepushrodstothe rudderandelevatorcontrolsurfacesandtocenterthesurfacesaccordingly. Withthetrimleverscentered,carefullyspreadopeneachclevis(thewhitecolorplastic partinstalledonthethreadedendofthemetalpushrod)soyoucaninsertthepininthe OUTERMOSTholeoneachcontrolhorn.Itmaybehelpfultoinsertaflatblade screwdriver(notincluded)intotheclevisthencarefullytwistituntilitdisengagesthe pinfromtheholeintheclevis.Also,itisnotnecessarytosnaptheclevisbacktogether untilthecenteringadjustmentsarecomplete.

Afterconnectingtheclevisestothecontrolhornsviewtheverticaltailandrudderfrom directlyabove.Theruddershouldbeinlinewiththeverticaltailwhenitsproperly centered.However,iftherudderisangledofftotherightorleftyoucanadjustthe length/positionofthepushrod/clevissothesurfaceiscenteredmechanicallywhilethe trimleveronthetransmitteriscentered.

Iftherudderisangledofftotheleftcarefullyremovetheclevisfromthecontrolhorn andscrewitin(clockwise)onehalftoonefullturntheninsertthepinbackintothe outermostholeinthecontrolhorn.Or,iftherudderisangledofftotherightcarefully removetheclevisfromthecontrolhornandscrewitout(counterclockwise)onehalf

Flight Controls and Trimming IntheeventyouarenotfamiliarwiththecontrolsofyourGamma370,pleasetakethe timetofamiliarizeyourselfwiththemasfollowsandbeforeattemptingyourfirstflight.

Thelefthandstickonthetransmittercontrolsthethrottle.Whenthelefthandstick(also knownasthethrottlestick)isinthelowestpossiblepositionthemotorwillnotrunandthe propellerwillnotspin.

Movingthestickupwardwillincreasethe speed/RPMofthepropeller.Increasingthespeed ofthepropellerincreasesthespeedofthemodel andalsoprovidesthethrustneededto climb/increasealtitude.

Decreasingthespeed/RPMofthepropellerby loweringthelefthandstickwilldecreasethe speedofthemodelandreducethrustmakingit possibletodescend/decreasealtitude. Duringflightyoucanadjustthethrottletoaposition,typicallyaroundthemiddle(alsoknown ashalfstick/power),tomaintain/cruiseatagivenaltitudeandincreaseflightduration.

ESC (Electronic Speed Control) Arming

Foraddedsafetythe20AmpBrushedMotorESC(AZS1210)installedinyourGamma370is equippedwithanarmingswitch/button.Thischecklistincludesthestepsyoumustfollowto ensuresafeandproperarmingoftheESC:

BeforeeachflightyoumustALWAYSturnthetransmitteronbeforeconnecting theLiPoflightbatterytotheESC.NeverconnectthebatterytotheESCbefore poweringthetransmitteronfirst.Also,aftereachflightyoushouldalways disconnectthebatteryfromtheESCbeforepoweringoffthetransmitter.

WiththetransmitterpoweredonandthebatteryconnectedtotheESCyou shouldhavefullcontroloftherudderandelevatorservos/controlsurfaces. However,youwillnothavecontrolofthethrottleandmotor,regardlessofthe positionofthelefthand/throttlestick,untiltheESCisarmed. Also,althoughtheESCisnotyetarmeditisstronglyrecommendedthatyou ALWAYSkeepthelefthand/throttlestickinthelowestpossiblepositionto ensurethemotor/propellerdonotspinuntilyouarereadytofly.Thisisavery goodhabittolearnbecausemostRCaircraftmodelsarenotequippedwithan armingswitch/button.

Youllfindthatitonlytakesrelativelysmall/minorrudderinputstochangedirectionin flight.Remembertokeeptheseinputsasminimalaspossibleassignificantinputs, suchasmovingthestickallthewaytotheleftorright(andholdingitthere),could resultinovercontrol,lossoforientationand/orapossiblecrash.

Ifyoufindtheairplaneconstantlyclimbs,descendsordrifts/turnsleftorrightwithout anycontrolinputyoullneedtomakeadjustmentstothetrimsettingsusingthetrim leversonthetransmitter(youcanfindmoreinformationregardingthelocationand functionofthetrimleversintheTransmitterDetailsandFlightControlsand Trimmingsectionsofthismanual):

Whentheairplaneisproperlytrimmedpracticemakingshallow(approximately515 degreebank)turnsbyusingasmallamountofruddertorolltheairplanethenasmall amountofupelevatortokeepthenosefromdroppingandtohelppulltheairplane throughtheturn.Thenapplyrudderintheoppositedirectiontobringthewingsback tolevelbeforestartingthenextturn.

Sharperturns(approximately15+degreebank)willrequiremorerudderandelevator input.Trynottoexcessivelybankthemodelbeyond3045degreesasdoingsocan causetheairplanetolosealtitudeveryquickly.

Ifatanytimeduringflightyoufeelliketheairplaneisdriftingoutof/beyondyour control,simplyreleasetheelevatorandruddercontrolswhilemaintaining approximately1/2to2/3power.Inmostcases,andwithenoughaltitudeandspace, thiswillallowtheairplanetoreturntonearlylevelflightonitsown.Also,ifthe airplaneisflyingtoohighortoofaraway,lowerthelefthandstick/throttle completelytopoweroffthemotorandallowtheairplanetodescendtoamore reasonablealtitudeorhopefullynotbeyondyourlineofsight.

DisconnectthebatteryfromtheESC,turnthetransmitteroffandunplugthebrushless ESCfromthereceiver.Then,carefullyinsert/routetheESCandwireleadsintothe fuselagethroughtheopeningnearthebottomofthefirewall.RoutetheESCandleads upandovertheflooroftheradiocompartment(wherethereceiverandservosare located)thenslidethemotormountoverthemountingstickandsecureitusinga2x 8mmpan(large)headscrew(donotovertighten!). Slidethecowloverthebrushlessmotor/mountandontothefuselagetheninstallthecowl usingthree2x8mmpan(large)headscrews.Ifyoucutthedecalstoremovethecowl beforeyoushouldadjustthepositionofthecowlasneededtoensurethedecalsareproperly alignedBEFOREtighteningthescrews.Or,ifyouonlypeeledthedecalsawayfromthecowl youcanpressthembackintoplaceaftersecurelyinstallingthecowlandconfirmingproper alignment.

Toinstallthepropellerstartbythreadingthefirst(rear)3mmhexlocknut(included withthe370brushlessmotor)ontothethreadedportionofthemotorshaft,withthe nyloninsert/lockorientedtowardtheBACKoftheairplane,untilitstopsattheend ofthethreads.Tightenthisnutinplace(donotovertighten!)theninstallthepropeller ontheshaftandrotateitasnecessaryuntilitlinesupwith,slidesoverandfully engagesthenut.Itmayalsobehelpfultoinsertthenutintothebackofthepropeller hub,withthenyloninsert/lockorientedtowardtheBACKoftheairplane,thento threadthenutandpropellerontotheshaftatthesametime.

Usuallyitspossibletocorrecttheangled/outoftrackconditionbylooseningthefront hexnutuntilyoucanpullthepropellerforwardandrotateittothenextpositionin whichitwillengagetherearhexnut.Thentightenthefonthexnutandrunthemotor again.Ifthetipsarestilloutoftrackrepeatthisprocessuntilyoufindtheposition wherethepropellertipstrackbest.Or,inveryrarecases,youmayneedtoswitchtoa differentrearhexnutand/orpropellertoensureoptimaltrackingandthesmoothest possibleoperation. Afterconfirmingtheservomountisproperlyinstalledandsecurethe9gramsubmicroservo (orsimilar,soldseparately)canbeinstalledinthemount.Theoutputshaftoftheservomust beorientatedtowardthetrailing(rear)edgeofthewingbeforeinsertingtheservointothe mount.Withtheoutputshaftintheproperorientationinsertthesideoftheservowiththe3 wireleadintotheopeninginthemountfirst,thencarefullyroutethewireleadthroughthe spaceonthesideoftheservosoitcanbeconnectedtothereceiverlateron.Usetwo2x 8mmpan(large)headscrews(orsimilarservomountingscrewsincludedwiththeservo)to securetheservotothemount.

Turnthetransmitteron,centertheailerontrimlever(locatedimmediatelybelowtheright handstick)andconnecttheLiPobatterytotheESCtopoweronthereceiverandservos. Checktobesuretheaileronservorespondstoleftandrightcontrolinputscorrectlythen centertherighthandstick. IMPORTANTNOTE:Ifusingthe6HPAtransmitterincludedwiththeRTFversionGamma370 andanAres9GramSubMicroServo(AZS1207)foraileroncontrol,besuretomovethe AILE(aileron)channelSERVOREVERSEswitch(locatedonthebottomfrontofthe transmitter)totheNOR(normal)positionbeforeproceeding.Thiswillensuretheaileron channel/servoisoperatinginthecorrectdirectionandcenteredproperlybeforeinstalling theservoarm.Also,forotherbrandtransmittersand/orservosyoullneedtosettheservo reversingasnecessarytoensuretheailerons/aileronservoarerespondingcorrectlyto controlstickmovements(asshownlaterinthissection).

Withtherighthandstickandailerontrimlevercenteredtheservoshouldalsobecentered. Nowinstalltheselectedservoarmontheoutputshaftoftheservosoitsascloseto perpendiculartotheservocaseaspossible.ItsOKifthearmcannotbepositionedexactly perpendiculartothecaseaslongasitsclose.However,ifthearmismorethan510degrees awayfromperpendicularwesuggestrotatingthearmapproximately180degreesand/or checkingothersuitableservoarmsuntilyoufindtheonethatfitswiththebestalignment overall.

Afterinstallingtheservoarmontheoutputshaftinthepositionwiththebestpossible alignmentuseoneofthesuitablescrewsincludedwiththeservotosecuretheservoarmto theoutputshaft(donotovertighten!). Withtheservoarminstalledandtherighthandstickandailerontrimleverstillcentered carefullyspreadopeneachclevis(thewhiteplasticpartinstalledonthethreadedendofthe metalpushrod)soyoucaninsertthepinintheholeoneachcontrolhorn/bracketattachedto theailerontorquerodsinstalledinthewing.Itmaybehelpfultoinsertaflatblade screwdriver(notincluded)intotheclevisthencarefullytwistituntilitdisengagesthepin fromtheholeintheclevis.Also,itisnotnecessarytosnaptheclevisbacktogetheruntilthe centeringadjustmentsarecomplete.

Afterconnectingtheclevisestothecontrolhorns/bracketsviewthetrailing(rear)edge oftheaileronsandwingfromdirectlybehind.Thetrailingedgesoftheaileronsshould beinlinewiththetrailingedgesofthewingwhenaileronsareproperlycentered. However,iftheaileronsareoffcenteryoucanadjustthelength/positionofthe pushrods/clevisesasneeded. Ifeitheraileronisabovecentercarefullyremovetheclevisfromthecontrol horn/bracketandscrewitin(clockwise)onehalftoonefullturntheninsertthepin backintothecontrolhorn/bracket.Or,ifeitheraileronisbelowcenterscrewtheclevis out(counterclockwise)onehalftoonefullturntheninsertthepinbackintothe controlhorn/bracket.Viewthetrailingedgesoftheaileronsandwingfromdirectly behindagainandcontinueadjustingthelength/positionofthepushrod/clevisuntilboth aileronsarecenteredappropriately. NOTE:Insomecasesitmaynotbepossibletoexactlycentertheinboardandoutboard portionsofanaileronrelativetothetrailingedgeofthewing.Ifyoufindthistobethe casesimplyadjustthelength/positionofthepushrod/clevistosplitthedifference betweentheinboardandoutboardportionsrelativetothetrailingedgeofthewing. NOTE:Youshouldalwaysrotatetheclevisuntilthepinisperpendicularwiththecontrol horntoensurethepinisnotunderanyexcessiveload/pressurewheninsertedinthe holeandduringoperation.Insomecasesitmaynotbepossibletoexactlycenterthe surfacemechanicallywhileproperlyaligningthepin.Inthesecasesbesurethepinis properlyalignedthenadjustthepositionofthetrimleverslightlyasneeded.Also,itwill likelybenecessarytomakefurtheradjustmentstothepositionofthetrimleverduring flightasmostsurfacesdonotendupinexactlythecenteredpositionwhenanairplane istrimmedproperlyforactualflight(butcenteredisstillthebeststartingpoint). Also,westronglyrecommendinstallingtheincludedcleviskeeperstoprovideadded securityfortheclevises.Typicallyyoucancarefullyslidethekeepersovertheclevises whentheyarenotconnectedtothecontrolhorn.Then,afterconnectingtheclevisto thecontrolhornandsnappingtheclevistogetheryoucanslidethekeepersintoa positionthatdoesnotallowthemtobindagainstthecontrolhorn/bracketduring movementofthesurface.
