Year 7 DRAMA Drama has three Learning Areas.

These are: Making: Pupils will be introduced to key Drama terms and concepts. Pupils will work in groups exploring narration, mask work, physical theatre, scripts and Greek Drama. Performing: Pupils will perform rehearsed improvisations in addition to some basic scripted work. Pupils will experiment with voice and movement to create a range of different characters and situations. Responding: Pupils will reflect on and evaluate their own work and other pupils work, suggest improvement and use correct basic theatre terminology. Pupils will be able do demonstrate an awareness of some theatre traditions from different times and places. Drama is taught and assessed through practical activities, theoretical tasks and research. All pupils are given opportunities to develop skills and to lead others, as well as work within a group. Schemes of work include Greek Drama, Scripts and the musical CATS. Year 7 MUSIC Music has three Learning Areas. These are: Performing: Pupils work on keyboard and singing skills performing in a variety of styles. Pupils are given the opportunity to perform in pairs, small groups and as a whole class. Composing: Pupils compose and improvise using keyboards and percussion instruments. Pupils demonstrate their knowledge of the musical elements through a variety of composition tasks. Pupils will use Music Technology to create a song to a brief. Listening and Appraising: Pupils listen to music from a variety of sources. Pupils are expected to demonstrate their knowledge through listening activities including assessment of their peers. Music is taught and assessed through practical activities, theoretical tasks and research. All pupils are given opportunities to develop skills and to lead others, as well as work within a group. Schemes of work include Indonesian Gamelan, Pop Songs and Music Technology and Carnival of Animals.

Year 8 DRAMA Drama has three Learning Areas. These are: Making: Pupils will begin to interpret and rehearse extracts from a range of scripted plays. Pupils will also begin to write scripts or short plays based on devised work using appropriate theatre conventions. Performing: Pupils will use an increasing range of different drama techniques, effects and theatre conventions in the plays they present. Pupils will also begin to refine their directing and technical contributions to the rehearsal process. Responding: Pupils will be expected to use technical terms when talking or writing about performances they have seen or in which they have participated. Pupils will be able to relate, compare and contrast their work with drama from other times and cultures. Schemes of work include Little Sister/Reality TV, Melodrama and the musical Sweeney Todd. Year 8 MUSIC Music has three Learning Areas. These are: Performing Pupils work on keyboards and percussion to perform music in a wide variety of styles including music from other cultures. Pupils are given the opportunity to perform in pairs, small groups and as a whole class. Composing Pupils compose and improvise on keyboards. Pupils demonstrate their knowledge of the musical elements and other key musical features through a variety of composition activities. Pupils will use Music Technology to explore Music and the Media. Listening and Appraising Pupils listen to music from a variety of sources, including their own performances and compositions. Pupils demonstrate their knowledge of key concepts through discussion and research tasks. Schemes of work include Samba, Reggae and the Power of Music.

Year 9 DRAMA Drama has three Learning Areas. These are: Making: Pupils will devise dramas in various forms, based on a range of challenging issues and themes. Pupils will create performances for different audiences and purposes using various genres, styles and world traditions. Performing: Pupils will refine their work in rehearsal, develop a piece of devised work and transcribe it into a scripted scene making full use of the available performance space and resources. Pupils will combine sound and silence, movement and stillness, light and darkness to create a powerful piece of theatre. Responding: Pupils will show initiative in seeking information about their Drama work from a range of sources. Pupils will be able to discuss and give reasons for their preferences in Drama, based on their knowledge of theatre past and present. Schemes of work include Stage Combat, Commedia DellArte and the Eminem song Stan. Year 9 MUSIC Music has three Learning Areas. These are: Performing Pupils work on keyboards to perform music in a wide variety of styles. Pupils are given the opportunity to perform in pairs, small groups and as a whole class. Composing Pupils compose and improvise using keyboards. Pupils demonstrate their knowledge of early and modern music through a variety of composition activities. Pupils will use Music Technology to explore Film Music and Music/Dance Tracks. Listening and Appraising Pupils listen to music from a variety of sources, including their own composition work. Schemes of work include The Blues, Motifs/Dance Tracks and Minimalism.
