Kona & Kona apparel New firmware KN 6.0.0


Dear Customer, There is a new firmware version (KN 6.0.0) for the Kona and Kona apparel series cutters. Please read this Technical Information Bulletin to know what the new features are, which items have been changed and which bug fixes have been made. The Users Guide and Application Guide are already Up-To-Date and provide all the necessary information you need to know about the new features in detail.

Installation of the new firmware


Verify the latest CutServer (4.0.1)is installed before installing the new firmware. When CutServer 1.0.0 is installed and you install CutServer 4.0.1, there is no firmware update possibility available via the CutServer. To make this setting available in the CutServer, delete the Update folder. This folder is normally installed in following path:C:\Program Files\Mutoh Europe NV\CutServer\Updates After deleting these files and restarting CutServer 4.0.1, the firmware update possibility will be available. When you have CutServer 4.0.0 running and you install CutServer 4.0.1, there will be a firmware update available. Refer to TIB 380 for more information concerning the update of the USB drivers. When manually installing the drivers (USB & virtual comport), it may happen that the USB connection is no longer available. Simply rebooting your computer will fix this issue. Step 1: Step 2: Make a connection between the Kona / Kona apparel and your computer using a USB cable. Be sure that the USB driver is already installed Refer to the chapter (Un)Install USB drivers in the Users Guide. Step 3: Step 4: Step 5: Step 6: Power ON the cutter and computer. Be sure that the pressure rollers are raised. Download the latest firmware from Mutohs member Site > or insert the Kona / Kona apparel installation CD. Double click on the exe file.

Read the License Agreement and select I accept the agreement and press next.

Click Install to continue.

Step 10: The program will extract the files. Step 11: Select the ComPort on which the cutter is connected and press Apply.

Refer to Check COM port in the Users Guide. Step 12: The PC will send and program the new firmware to the cutter. Step 13: The Kona / Kona apparel will restart automatically as soon as the firmware is installed. Step 14: The new firmware is installed properly when you hear a beep.

Note

It is not advised to downgrade to lower firmware versions. If downgrading the firmware, a correct functioning cutter is no longer guaranteed with the current settings.

Reset the user machine defaults and restore the backup from the previous version. e.g. restore parameter backup taken on FW 1.0.0.

Firmware version KN 6.0.0 includes:


Graphic User Interface

New language support: Czech, Russian, Turkish. Double Home screen. When the machine is cutting the Home screen switches to a screen with a progress bar indicating the remaining time. The cancel button is now only available in this screen and no longer in the original Home screen. Home screen: replaced the former Cancel button, with a Tool button. Tool settings of the active tool are directly accessible. Actions ContourCut menu added for Manual Alignment on Single and Multi Frame files. Screensaver new 'Did you know?' - images custom per machine type. By pressing the right bottom corner you can go manually through the different slides. Tool management: Added Help with explanation of the icons and buttons. Page Mode: Added Help with more information what the setting mean. New menu settings for disabling specific sound notifications via Settings Screen Sound. Possibility to enable/disable sounds related to:

Key press. Default off Movements not triggered by the user. Default on Warnings and Errors. Default on Job end. Default off

Actions Tool Load: Possible when no media is loaded. Added more tool information. Unknown Tool request via SP: Show id of unknown requested tool and wait for user acknowledge. Tool management: Indicate parked tool at a location in the tool list. New setting: EPOS Accuracy (Settings EPOS Accuracy). The user can set an accuracy level (High, Middle, Low) in the bounding box measurement according to the print distortion in its file. Purpose is to ignore warnings that would else pop up unnecessary. If a distortion is measured that falls out of the set accuracy level, a notification is given to the user in what accuracy level the distortion falls. The user has the possibility to adapt the accuracy level to the new level. Bug fix: Actions Tool load menu was accessible when machine is cutting. Improved touchscreen response when cutting, changing tools, New error 6130: Touchscreen bad connection of cable J3 at the back of the screen.

Media

Handling system when rear and front media sensors are uncovered during media loading or cutting. Bug fix: Media ejected backwards after combination jogging and knife offset test.

Machine

Switch of motor relais when machine is in standby. Easily movement of the head by the user. Z - encoder monitoring. Bug fix: New machines went into position error at first startup.

Tool

SP0 behaviour changed. Return to tool used before the file is sent. Kona apparel: After power down, store if a tool is parked at location 2. Kona apparel: After a tool change reduced the number of movements and tool alignments. Bug fix: Knife offset test. Tool tip was not directly above indicated offset pattern. Bug fix: Inserting a tool too low in the head, caused a machine crash.

Cutting

Bug fix: Possible wrong cutting of the first vector after a serie clipped vectors. Bug fix: Shift in Y after tool change knife - pen. Bug fix: Z Monitoring set Smoothing setting to Off. Bug fix: Z Monitoring did not work anymore when the plot data was translated and waiting to reset the velocity. Bug fix: Replot of a job in 0.010mm step resolution, when the machine was set in 0.025mm, caused to replot job to be 2.5 times too large.

EPOS/Contour cutting

Warning occurrence. User can disable warning pop-ups until end of job or until machine power down. Fast Scan added on bounding box centre and top. Support more print variation. EPOS Manual Alignment on Single and Multi- Frame files. EPOS Manual Alignment intervention on Automatic Alignment failure. After a contour cutting job, the machine does not go to the origin anymore, but goes to the back of the job. Bug fix: Incremental shift with large contour cutting files. Bug fix: Automatic alignment when origin is in centre. Started scan from centre and didn't found anything.

YZ Profile

In eprom store the full YZ Profile data in a table iso curve coefficients. Better reaction by the tool on differences in height in the media platform. Bug fix: Pressure roll on centre grit position error fix.

Sheetoff

Trimming of media after media load via GUI Actions > Sheet Off Production: Optimized Sheet off PWM search for becoming faster result and less test time. Bug fix: After sheetoff and media too short, fans remained on. Bug fix: KONA apparel: Sheet off in combination with tool on location 2, caused no sheet off done.

Memory

Bin file size optimization by relocation of text config block, compression of included bmp's,

Update

Update made faster, by disabling unnecessary checks in the update code. Page 5/5
