According to Technopak advisors India is expected to reach over US$ 150 billion by 2017, in their report India healthcare trends 2008.The private sector accounts for nearly 80% of the healthcare market in India, while public expenditure accounts for 20%. Indias excellence in the field of modern medicine and its ancient methods of physical & spiritual wellbeing make it the most favourable destination for good health. Indias cost advantage and explosive growth of private hospitals, equipped with latest technology and skilled healthcare professionals has made it a most sought after destination for medical tourism also.

Hospital :- Following is the sequential procedure for the JNMC hospitals which is situated in Belgaum, Karnataka. The total assets of the Society as on today may cross over Five billions with an annual turn over of over one billion. At present the hospital has 6,000 personnel, benefiting more than 60,000 students on its roll studying various courses. A span of 86 years, since the inception of the K. L. E. Society, looks fairly a long period of time, but to establish and run 114 institutions which the Society has done, it is a short time indeed.

Procedure followed at JNMC hospital1. Patient first goes to the main reception desk and and gets an OPD (out patient department) card. 2. Depending on the complaint/health problem, patient is referred to the speciality department. 3. Patient goes to the receptionist of the speciality department and speciality department OPD is made. 4. Patient is then sent to a consulting room. 5. Patient meets a consultant. 6. Complaints of the patient are noted down and he/she is sent to examination room. 7. Consultant discusses the complaints mentioned and probable examinations to be made is decided . 8. Patients total body examination is done based on complaint. 9. Doctor then make a provisional diagnosis. 10. Investigations are prescribed by the doctor.

11. If patient is not willing to continue with the treatment then his/her provisional diagnosis becomes his/her final diagnosis for the hospital. 12. If the patient agrees for the further treatment then he/she is directed to concerned laboratory. 13. At the lab a staff collects the OPD card from the patient and conducts the test mentioned. 14. The test results are directly sent to the Consultant. 15. Final diagnosis is done and treatment is prescribed. 16. Patient is given up a follow date (usually 15days, depending on the issue and asked to come on the same day to meet the consultant). 17. Patient comes back on the specified date and meets the consultant. 18. Consultant again checks the patient and if any other test then it is noted on the OPD if patient has recovered then also it is noted on the OPD.
