Democracy for Houston (DFH) is a grassroots organization promoting activist training, grassroots empowerment, and progressive issues and candidates.

Mission Statement: To educate Houston area Democrats about political issues, candidates, and effective communication techniques.

Democracy For Houston met August 14, to consider endorsements in the 2013 Houston Municipal, Houston Community College, and Houston Independent School District elections in November 2013. DFH purposefully communicates with, educates, activates, and empowers individuals and organizations at the grassroots level throughout the Greater Houston area. DFH also encourages individuals and organizations to become an integral part of the Democratic Party, precinct by precinct.

Phillip McNutt, Acting Chair for DFH remarked: "DFH did not vote to endorse in every race nor did we vote to endorse anyone simply because they asked for our vote. Our progressive values, along with the candidate's credibility and elect ability are reflected in our slate of endorsed candidates, from the bottom to the top of the ticket." After a month-long process of screening interviews and considering candidate questionnaires, the general DFH membership voted to endorse the following candidates with a MINIMUM vote of 70% approval of the member's present. UPDATE: On September 11, 2013, DFH met for an additional screening session, and the candidates indicated by * below were endorsed.
