GENERAL REQUIREMENT The heat exchanger xchanger to be erected on its foundation Minimum 2 nos Calibrated Pressure Gauges are to be used for each test. The range of the pressure gauge should be as per applicable code. Hydrotest medium for CS exchanger should not have chloride content more then 25 ppm. Hydrotest medium for SS exchanger should be DM water. For flanged joints at inlet and outlet should be tested with service gaskets. Tighten the flanged joint using recommended torque.

The TOP Nozzle to be assembled with a blind flange having provision for fitting pressure gauges. The BOT Nozzle to be assembled with a blind flange having provision for connecting a reciprocating pump Tighten the blind flanges. Keep Inlet and outlet nozzle of shell side open.

Connect the bottom nozzle blind flanges to a pump. Fill up the tube side with water and see that proper venting is done and there is no trapped air. Connect the pressure gauges to the top nozzle blind flange. Pressurize tube side to the corresponding design pressure . Check for leakage of all girth joint , which are under pressure. . If leak is observed through girth joint , Tale tell hole of RF Pads , Channel Long/ Circ. Seams then bring it to the notice of PMC before proceeding with further action. Also Check whether water coming out of bottom nozzle of shell . If so then there maybe leakage through tube to tubesheet joint. Bring it to the notice of PMC /CLIENT.. If no leaks observed raise the pressure to corresponding Test Pressure of tube side as per approved equipment drawing. Keep the pressure for 1 hour. If there is pressure drop ,then investigate for the reason ason else reduce the pressure to corresponding design pressure for tube side and check for leakage. If no leakages observed test to be considered satisfactory. Open vent and drain. Drain water from tube side and reduce the pressure to atmospheric pressur pressure.

Follow the same sequence that of tube side hydro test for Shell Side except that Keep Inlet and outlet nozzle of tube side open. Blind flanges are tightened to shell side nozzles

First Pressurized to design pressure and then to test pressure of Shell side.

The bottom heat exchanger to be erected on its foundation Top heat Exchanger to be stacked on the bottom heat exchanger as shown. Service gaskets and fasteners to be used for tightening of bottom nozzle flanges of top exchanger with top nozzle flanges of bottom exchanger. Repeat operations as stated for Tube side and Shell Side above. In addition check nozzle flange joints between top and bottom heat exchanger for leakages.
