Jumaa Prayer

for the Muslims of Africa and beyond

18 October 2013

West Africa Advanced School of Theology

Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!

Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?... God himself will provide the lamb (Ge 22:7-8, NIV). Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (Jn 1:29b, NIV) This week Muslims observe the Feast of the Sacrifice, Id al Adha (Tabaski in West Africa). They make a sacrifice, usually of a sheep, to commemorate Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Ishmael. They repeat this ritual every year. But God provided a Lamb who died once for all! Pray that their hearts would be open to accept the atonement Jesus offers them.*

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students, Alumni, and Missionaries

EGYPT: Praise God with us for the report of a worker in Cairo. He says that since the events of the last few months, with the ouster of President Morsi and the ensuing violence, many young Muslims have been coming to the Lord. It is as if the Lord has pulled away the mask of Islam, and many are concluding, If that is what Islam is like, we don't want it. Pray that these new believers become established in the faith and filled with the Holy Spirit. GHANA: Ghana's President Mahama and the UK government have issued warnings of potential terrorist attacks on this nation in retaliation for sending troops to northern Mali. Please pray that church leaders and members will be ever more conscious of the need to reach their Muslim neighbors with the Good News, and that the Lord will give them divine strategies and open doors to do so. NIGER: We thank God for the successful start of a new school year at an AG primary school in this country, with nearly 1,200 children! Continue to pray for God's protection on the children and workers and for favor in this city and with the families of the students. TOGO: On 6 September we asked for prayer for some ostracized believers, particularly for two young ladies. Recently someone called the lady with whom these two live, saying the Lord had prompted her to pay for schooling for two students. We thank God for His provision. Please keep praying for their spiritual growth, a permanent home for them, and the establishment of a center for those who need a home for a time.

In the News
Please pray for an Iranian lady named Nasim, who began serving a 4-year sentence in Evin Prison on 15 July. A member of Central Assembly of God in Tehran, she is accused of colluding to undermine national security. Please pray for her release, her witness, and her health. On 29 September she was taken to hospital, and her condition is unknown. The Central AG church was closed in May and the pastor is awaiting sentencing: http://bit.ly/15HOugt.

From Global Initiative**

Please pray for government leaders across the Muslim world. Pray that through divine intervention, windows of opportunity would open, allowing millions of Muslims to truly have the chance to learn about Jesus Christ.

For Muslim Women***

Pray for women in Europes local churches to be impassioned for outreach to their Muslim neighbors, and that their efforts to do so would bear fruit beyond every expectation.
