Bibliotherapy: Using Literature to Heal

Whatever we read serves as references for life. Example is The Holy Quran, what does the Holy Book mean to you as a Muslim or other religious books if one happens to believe in other dogmas, what do they offer you? How do these book heal you? Books are used for therapy that is for identification, catharsis and insights to develop the concepts of mutuality, empathy, reaffirmation of life and options for actions. We read books to understand life and try to cope with it If a book were to be used for content in class, it should be structured according to the pedagogical principles of teaching young learners to be suited/adjusted to their stages of language development. Check them When are you going to use fiction or non fiction or poetry? If you opted for non fiction to teach English, do you think you can transfer the content to other subjects? Example is you are teaching a non fiction that is the biography of the late Tuanku Abdul Rahman Putra Alhaj. The History teacher is at the same time teaching the same topic. Does it help with more undertstanding? It could happen as the content is the same. What is different is just the language. So one content strengthens the other.
