UAB was among the 17 accounting programs to receive accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB) in 1982. This was the very first year AACSB International granted accreditation to accounting programs separate from that of Schools of Business. Currently, UAB is among only 176 universities worldwide to achieve this seal of excellence in both business and accounting. Its School of Business offers the following two online accounting degrees: Bachelor of Science in Accounting Provides a solid foundation in conceptual accounting and business knowledge, laying the groundwork for beginning a career as a professional accountant. Applies to many career paths including public accounting, private or industrial accounting and governmental accounting.
Provides an ideal starting point for pursuing study at the graduate level. Master of Accounting Designed for professionals with a knowledge base in accounting and business. Focuses on broadening communication, interpersonal, technological and applied research skills. Offers a bridge program for students from non-accounting backgrounds who want more formal accounting knowledge without committing to an additional bachelors degree.

Non-Traditional Freshman
Graduated from high school 4 years or more and have not attended college or have attended college earning fewer than 24 semester hours Minimum high school grade point average of 2.25 Complete the COMPASS examination and achieve satisfactory minimum score for Algebra (37), English (60) and Reading (74); see www.uab.edu/testing Required documents: Official high school transcripts Official COMPASS score Complete online application and pay application fee of $30
Completion of college preparatory curriculum -- English: 4 units to include composition and literature -- Science: 3 units to include two courses with laboratory component -- Mathematics: 3 units to include algebra I and II, geometry, pre-calculus or other college preparatory or advanced level senior math -- Social Science: 3 units in history, psychology, sociology, etc. -- Foreign Language: 1 unit in one language -- Additional Core: 3 units Minimum high school grade point average (grades 912) of 2.25 on a 4.0 scale Minimum composite ACT score of 20 or SAT score of 950 (critical reading + mathematics) Required documents: Official high school transcripts Official ACT or SAT score (if not included on transcript) Credentials of home school teacher (for home- schooled students) Complete online application and pay application fee of $30
