*it is a common occur in highly producing dairy cattle in the 2 week of lactation

**Clinical signs:
1-digestive form (wasting form)
-decrease of appetite -decrease of milk production -depression -woody cow (rapid loss of b.wt & the animal become severely emaciated) -tucked up abdomen -keton odour in breath

2-Nervous form:
-moderate tremors of muscle of head , ear & neck -hyperesthesia & aggressive -bellowing -head pressing -apparent blindness ((-ve) menace reflex & (+ve) PLR)

TREATMENT
1- I/V injection of glucose (25-40%) 500 ml for cattle /twice daily for 3-5 days 2-oral administration of glycerol & treacle - 1 liter / 5 days 3-I/M injection of dexamethasone 5-15 cm /daily /3 days or predef-2x10 cm /I.M/daily /3 days( of blood glucose level) 4- oral administration of vit.B12 (yeast) help in metabolism of propionic acid 10-15 gm / orally

1-WASTING FORM TRP,vagus indigestion & abomasal displacement 2- NERVOUS FORM rabies , milk fever , lactation tetany & lead poisoning N.B The cow must be not over fattening at the end of lactation & dry period
