MIAMI MIRROR TRUE REFLECTIONS

Manipulation of the Anti-Consciousness Monsters by Darwin Leon

SMEARING ANTI-SMEARING SMEARING

19 October 2013 By David Arthur Walters MAIMI MIRROR MIAMI BEACHFrank Del Vechhio, a retired lawyer and email publicist who employs himself as a shadow city attorney to subtly advance his activist agenda, and most lately to promote his slate of faux opposition candidates, has joined the alleged ethnic smear campaign of mayoral candidate Philip Levine, who has cast his opponent, Commissioner Michael Gngora, as someone with a Maana Attitude who kicks cans down the road.

MIAMI MIRROR TRUE REFLECTIONS The Maana Attitude is impliedly a contagious disease imported by the burgeoning Hispanic population, and has evidently been contracted by legislatures including the United States Congress. Del Vechhios fellow Levinites have employed reverse psychology to insist that Levine is not anti-Hispanic at all, offering as proof that he studies Spanish and that his political satan and his girlfriend are Cuban, therefore they charge that the Gngorites are ethnocentrically accusing Levine of prejudice, a countercharge that is itself anti-Hispanic. Del Vechhio has been very helpful to the community at large at times, but he has now clearly lost his balance, adding fuel to the fire in an Open Letter to the Editor of the Miami Herald after the Editor endorsed Gngora and published a letter entitled "Levine victimized by false political attacks" penned by Levines good friend, Alex Penelas, who is of Cuban descent. Penelas is the former mayor of Miami-Dade County whose disloyalty enraged Democratic Party officials, President Clinton and presidential candidate Al Gore, and contributed to the victory of George W. Bush. Gore said Penelas was the most dishonest person he encountered in the 2000 election. According to the Village Voices local countercultural rag, The Miami New Times, lobbyists got rich via Penelas and his friends profited from contracts while he was mayor. He now fancies himself as a lobbyist. Levines great friendship with Penelas did not deter former President Clinton from flying down to endorse Levine s run for mayor of the City of Miami Beach, lauding him for his cooperation across political lines. His ideological treachery includes supporting Tea Party hero Marco Rubio, which also might be used to demonstrate that he is not anti-Hispanic. Levine contributed to Hillary Clintons campaign, and touts his involvement in Clintons Global Initiative of the Clinton Foundatio n although information about the nature of his involvement in terms of issues is hard to come by. CGI solicits pledges from wealthy people to various causes but does not contribute to the causes itself. $90 billion have been pledge over a few years.

MIAMI MIRROR TRUE REFLECTIONS Critics including the New York Times opine that the Clinton initiative enriches the Clintons and paves the way for Hillarys run for president. The universal lust for money and power trumps particular politics and races: It is said that Bill Clinton was the best Republican president we ever had, despite his membership in the Democratic Party, and that he was virtually black to boot, especially on the saxophone. Now Levine is trying to buy the outcome of the race for mayor in Miami Beach, already putting in $1 million of his own money for the $8,000 part-time job. Del Vechhio has been asked to employ his legal skills to write a formal Request for Proposal to simply auction off high offices and put the proceeds in the general fund. That is what billionaires do nowadays, buy elections for their causes; take New York City Mayor Bloomberg for example, who has vowed to spend down his $30 billion to bounce the check to the undertaker, a statement that exposes his ultimate ideal. Perhaps he can be induced to endorse Gngora. The race for the weak-mayor position was presumably nonpartisan, pursuant to the citys charter, until Clinton showed up with the goal of defeating a man whom he knows nothing about, a man whose virtues outweigh his vices, a man with a long history of political and altruistic service to the community. No doubt Clinton loves everyone who advances his causes regardless of his race, creed, gender, ethnic background, country of origin, IQ, et cetera. And let the record show that Clinton is not a Maana Man. Neither is his buddy Levine. It was Levine who associated Gngora with the so-called Maana Attitude of the Miami Beach government, apparently contracted from the majority Hispanic population. Now it should be noted in Levines favor or disfavor that only a foolish candidate would defame the Hispanic majority and cause them to recall the historical struggle between Jews and Hispanics for power over the government of Miami Beach, which resulted in a balance of powers that Del Vechhio and other Levinites would now aggravate with smears upon smears couched as ethics lectures to newspaper editors.

MIAMI MIRROR TRUE REFLECTIONS Penelas and Del Vecchio, in their letters to the editor casting the Gngorites as race-baiters conveniently fail to mention Levines public remark on the Maana Attitude. I would not have thought anything about such an apparently harmless remark until the Gongorites were duly inflamed at the debate. Maybe I am insensitive. How could Latinos really be so offended by the use of a Spanish word instead of an English word in that context? I visited City Hall and discussed the Maana Attitude with a city employee who hails from Columbia. She said that the reference to a Maana Attitude is indeed an aspersion, but it refers not to all Hispanics, most of whom share the celerity exhibited by Speedy Gonzales (Andale Arriba!), but to Cubans alone. Maana malaise in Cuba, she explained, is due in part to the communists regime's stifling of incentives. Roughly half the Hispanics in Miami Beach are of Cuban origin. Cuban Americans hold many powerful positions in the county, and administered the City of Miami Beach for a decade. Cuban Americans are generally better educated and earn more than other Hispanics in the county. Whether that is due to ample privileges once afforded by the U.S. to Cuban immigrants, or to their culture, is subject to debate. Argentines, for example, who had their own set of favors, claim that they are superior in several respects to Cubans. And so on. I recall how Cubo-surrealist artist Darwin Leon, who hails from Cuba and is an exponent of fine art, used to laugh at a video exhibition by a postmodern artist at South Florida Art Center entitled MAANA SI. The video was of various disasters voiced-over by "Maana Si, Maana Si, Maana Si." Darwin took to repeating that saying, but I did not get the joke until many Maanas has passed; that is, until this ethnic flap. Darwin Leon left Miami Beach, disgusted with its government. The fact that Cubans run the government i.e. the administration, did him little good. When I lived in Hawaii many years ago, we joked around about "Hawaii Time" and "Island Time," as few people were in a rush. And our favorite comedian told ethnic jokes at which everyone laughed. Kids at high school graduations spoke proudly of their mixed "racial" or ethnic backgrounds. That ended when political

MIAMI MIRROR TRUE REFLECTIONS correctness arrived from the Mainland and downtown businessmen had to tuck their Aloha shirts in like wahinis. I was in a Honolulu restaurant one day when a man started shouting "RACIST!" The police were called. For the life of me, I could not figure out what "race" was discriminating against what "race" since so many different looking people were present, and the complainant quite frankly looked like he was mixed up even more than I was, mongrel that I am. As for the Maana Attitude, I confess that I contracted it a long time ago. When I heard that I was supposed to Welcome Change as def ined during the Dot.com boom, I was not about to be a welcome mat for someone elses change. When I heard that my resistance was due to the forces of darkness of reactionary tribalism, I knew that my resistance was actually against the forces of darkness of corporate board tribalism. The only change within Obamas CHANGE that I thought worth having was national health insurance to bring the United States up to par with other civilized nations. The premium would then be a tax like all the other taxes forced on individuals and not broken out on pay stubs. It is only natural to like our own looks and the looks of others who look like us, but variety is the spice of life without which the human race could not survive. We need to develop a sense of humor and thicker skins, and to stop jumping to conclusions about the imagined intentions of others because we are all too familiar with the intentions we imagine. We should laugh down the political satans who would secretly manipulate people with smear campaigns and dirty tricks. We might enjoy the dirt, but we know they are dirty jokesters and should not take them so seriously. So in truth I do not really believe any of the persons mentioned above are racists, not because race does not exist except in the biological sense that biologists find difficult to define, but in the hateful sense, when ethnic i.e. cultural attributes are confused with race. Flags and uniforms will do if there are no other distinguishing factors. Conflict is necessary to progress towards ideals, but hatred of the human race itself is groundless, self-destructive.
