Company Profile FOREWORD Since the organization of the First Legislative Body, then known as the Municipal Council of municipality of Jasaan, when it was created into an independent municipality in 1948 by Presidential fiat, local laws and ordinances have not been properly recorded and complied, such that there are times that precious legislations are reiterated or duplicated in recent legislations without reference as to what ordinance or resolution it intends to augment or amend.

Confronted with such problem, the Sangguniang Bayan, upon the prodding and encouragement of the Executive Department of this

municipality, conceived the idea of codifying all local legislations with the end in view of consolidating all active and existing ordinances and at the same time, eliminating from files obsolete, antiquated and repelled local laws. Fortunately, the Department of the Interior and Local Government came up with its Own program of assisting local governments in codifying local ordinances as a single guide and reference of the people, officials and employees included, and the transacting public of local laws being enforced and implemented in the local government unit. After more than two (2) years or so of studies, research and evaluation of available records and data supplied the staff of the Sangguniang Bayan, the Codification Committee came up with a report, which the SB as a Body ultimately adopted the enacted into a Codified Ordinance 2000. With this document, therefore, it is hoped that the people shall be properly guided on the local laws, both old and new legislations, crafted for the good of Jasaan now and hereafter.

HISTORY OF JASAAN The history of the Municipality of Jasaan, just like other municipalities of Misamis Oriental, can be traced back from the preSpanish era. Jasaan, as early as 1840, was already an existing municipality. It was reduced to a barangay in the year 1903 and was placed under the justification of Balingasag with the occupation of the Americans who governed the country after the Spaniards.

Jasaan was named by the Spanish missionary who chanced upon a native sharpening his bolo in Sapong Spring in what is now called Kota, Aplaya. The missionary asked for the name of the place, however, the native replied Ag-hasaa meaning, I am sharpening my bolo. The missionary, thought that he was answered correctly, called the place Aghasaa, but finding it difficult for him to pronounce the word, he called it Hasaan instead. Then it was changed to Jasaan. Hasaanons were challenged to work for the restoration of their municipal status. Thus, the Municipality, by virtue of Executive Order No. 165, issued by President Elpidio Quirino on August 18, 1948, regained its municipal status. On November 10, 1948, a formal inauguration took place and the first set of appointed municipal officials assumed office. From a sleepy and sparsely populated community, Jasaan grew and developed into one of the agro-industrial municipalities of Misamis Oriental.

CHAPTER 3

Training Activities The real world of professional is difficult but we can always have fun in our duties if theres desire. The training in Sangguniang Bayan Office contributed both personal and professional growth in the near future because it will help me prepare as a student nationally and especially in the job. My training activities were more like an office clerks job, encoding paper works such as ordinances, resolutions and 3minutes for session. Some activities helped me lot to develop my self-confidence and interact to people especially Municipal Kagawads in Jasaan Municipality.

Narrative Experience November 15, 2011, it was the date when the trainee started the on the job training at Jasaan Municipal Hall. The trainee was assigned at the legislative department which is called Sangguniang Bayan. This department serves as the proper guidance on the local laws, both old and new legislations, crafted for the good of Jasaan now and hereafter. Being an apprentice on that kind of department was really remarkable. All the skills and techniques that they shared with the trainee will help for the future career.

14

Observation The trainee who was training at Sangguniang Bayan for almost one month, observed the daily activities and practices that the workers inside the company performed, as well as rules and regulation that all workers and employees must comply with.

Participation The trainee participated in the normal operation of the company by assisting and filing resolutions/ordinances. And also, my participation was help to the communication, especially on entertaining guest, clients and municipal Kagawads which was a great privilege for me because it added my self-confidence.

Interactions During the training at Sangguniang Bayan, the trainee learned to interact with other people. We know that people have different characteristics and attitudes; however, making friends with the trainees co-workers doesnt make difficult. Even though I was only a trainee, they dont treat him like others. And as a trainee, dont feel uncomfortable as you worked with them. From the interaction the trainee made with them, the later learned to work with patience. Although thoroughly working on something was time consuming, the quality of the output product is the most important. I also learned from co-workers experiences and mistakes and apply them whenever he

15

needed it. They also encouraged the trainee to go on with his studies until he become a professional. Although I worked and interact with them for a short period of time, I learned a lot to them; the skills and techniques that they shared with me that cannot be find on the books.

Challenges Challenge is test of one's abilities or resources in a demanding. Challenges are always present and a part of a training to become more active and ready whatever things that might happen. However, life doesnt always cooperate. Stuff happens that causes to feel angry, afraid, ashamed and discouraged but we dont have to resign because everything is going to be alright if we have the courage to do what is appropriate During the trainees on-the-job training, I met some challenges that push to work much better. First is when one of the co-workers challenged to be greedy in learning new things and skills. That is also the time when the trainees supervisor said that if the later want high grade, I must work like a real employee. That was a big challenge for the trainee. He was only a trainee, so the supervisor must supervise him and not to let him handle a situation than he didnt know. And because of that, the trainee learned to put a dedication to his work.

16

Related Activities Information Technology is a course with no boundaries. As long as technology reaches something, we should be there to grab the opportunity to learn it. As long as information reaches something, we should also be on the track to know and share this information. Therefore, I considered everything during my training as a part of the things that I should learn. Everything is related to my field. It is hard to learn but I thought of learning them all.

17

CHAPTER 4

Results and Findings As a result of my training, I found out that there are no hard things to do if we know it and we are interested to learn about it. Training like what I have experienced helps us to become courageous and a better student, apparently.

Accomplishment/Contribution The trainees contribution to the establishment was mostly in filing the resolutions and ordinances. Such would help them to minimize their work and finished it for a short period of time and with high quality. The trainee also shared with new knowledge that would help them to work in an accurate way.

Competencies Gained The training inside the Sangguniang Bayan is learning experience each day. The trainee learned to appreciate the lessons studied in school. And also to understand that everything that was thought inside the school can be a tool that can be used in future career. As the trainee was working as a trainee at Sangguniang Bayan, I learned to become a hard-working person. Time to complete the output

18

product is not important, but the quality. I also learned to follow the instructions as what the superiors said and to accept opinion that they suggested. At the school, being late is better than absent. But as what the trainee learned at Sangguniang Bayan, being absent is better than being late. Being absent can be a cause of emergency situations like sickness, unpredicted travels and phenomena, while, being late is a cause of misbehaviour and unable to manage the time. Lastly, the trainee learned that on-the-job training is not just only a subject to be passed or a requirement to be completed but on-the-job training is an opportunity to show what skills, talents and techniques that the student learned from the school and also an opportunity to experience the life outside the campus; serving companies like a professional on the field of the students specialization.

Impact to Chosen Career The training served as the stepping stone of the trainees to the real life of an IT professional. It served as the beginning the real life of being an employee. The trainees have realized that learning is a lifetime commitment that is continues even you already have a job. The training gave the students more initiative to their chosen career. The students were more encouraged to pursue the computer course. The training inspired the trainees to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of Information Technology. The trainees were given some ideas what could

19

be the feeling or situation being an employee. The training enriched their individuality as a beginner and created the foundation of being a good worker. The best thing that the trainees have gained inside the company was the good orientation of the person having the higher positions. As an Information Technology student, the OJT made me realize the importance of the course that I am taking. It made me realize the essential role of an IT student in a company. To be a competent one, not only a trainee must understand the process and the underlying principles but also be knowledgeable of the operation of certain equipments that carry out the process and also an IT student must possess good communication and leadership skill.

Prospect in the Next Five Years In the next five years, I may have shared my experiences and skills to many people; for I, myself was once a student and will always share what I have gained.

20

CHAPTER 5

Summary I learned so many ideas especially in my part as an Information Technology Student. My one month in Sanggunian Bayan was an unforgettable experienced. I met amazing people, and I also able to try new things. The On-Job-Training Program had provided me an access to attain a great quality of education by development of work through partnership with the institution in which I have been trained of. The training I have experienced made to become capable of doing jobs effectively and efficiently, principally in the field of Information Technology. I also become better prepared and responsible, and in addition, I able to gain good work virtue. The On-Job-Training course serves as an instrument for me to harness and enhance my social relationships and communication in boosting up my self-confidence, so that it would result to mutual benefits towards development and progress for the Participating Company, for the University, and for me, the Student Trainee.

Conclusion . The nature of the career course was the main focus of the training. The training of students will be useful if the nature of their training have the major concern for their chosen career. The trainees would able

21

to use the experiences they have gone through during the training whenever they are already in the field of specialization.

Recommendation The company created a good service to their clients and gave the best training for the students. The students must have a good company that would give them a good training ground and would enhance their knowledge and capabilities. The school must have the good coordination for some companies that offer an annual On the Job Training inside their company. The school should provide more budgets given to the OJT coordinators to have the best monitoring of the training the students are taking. One of the best ways of training is the provincial trainings that would give different experiences to the trainees. An out of town training would give more self esteem to the students. The information technology students have their training every third year second semester and fourth year first semester of the year. In some cases having their training during their 4th year of school would sometimes affect the rhythm of their schooling because in information technology the students OJT have their preferred pre-requisite subjects that once not taken would give a big effect to the arrangement of the students subjects. Instead of the regular schedule of years of studying, once being affected by the pre-requisite subjects, the students would waste some of the time spending for the subjects affected by the OJT. For the company, they should give more lectures on the technical parts of the used by the Department.
