Role Overview: CSIRO Plant Industry is seeking two motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to join a team studying the molecular basis of hybrid vigour (heterosis). This project will involve plant phenotyping, molecular analysis and next generation sequencing and analysis.

Duties: . Maintain and phenotype Arabidopsis plants, including crossing plants to determine extent of heterosis and progress through development. Use PCR, real time PCR, DNA sequencing and next generation sequencing, and methylSEQ to study epigenetic modifications that may be associated with heterosis. Use particular cell types to study heterosis in early stages of development Use RNA seq on isolated tissue types to study changes in gene expression in hybrids

Selection Criteria: Please note: Under CSIRO policy only applicants who meet all the essential criteria can be appointed Pre-Requisite: Owing to terms of the fellowship, candidates must not have more than 3 years of relevant postdoctoral experience. Essential Criteria: 1. Demonstrated research achievements using molecular approaches to a problem 2. Knowledge of molecular techniques such as real time PCR, microarrays 3. Evidence of good written and oral communication skills 4. Experience in next generation sequencing techniques and analysis of data produced 5. Experience in Arabidopsis plant handling and in epigenetics research Desirable Criteria 1. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team and the ability to focus on project goals.
